Only in Texas..
In 2011 the Texas Republicans voted to take away funding from family planning which is contributed to abortion clinics. Due to this about 50 clinics had to close across the state.
Now big surprise, big surprise..the state is now scrambling to come up with money to fund an expected 24 thousand births this year and next to family that cant' afford them which cost the tax payers even more than they saved by closing the clinics. Not to mention all the extra welfare the state will have to pay.. Now the Texas Republicans are considering funding the abortion clinics again.. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/01/us...uts.html?_r=2& |
Here's the problem.
" 24 thousand births this year and next to family that cant' afford them" Let them fucking fend for themselves. If people are too fucking stupid to realize they can't afford to have a kid then it's time for a good hard lesson to be learned. Not more nanny care provided by the state because people are just plain fucking ignorant. |

Texas is a single state just think what it would cost us in taxes if they ever were able to ban abortions across the entire country. |

Nobody is going to ban abortions.
The politicians that stopped the funding are pandering to their base to get re-elected. There's NEVER any logic in what comes from politicians doing that shit. I do agree with that stand though. I don't want to pay for abortion clinics as a tax payer. If people want an abortion that's their business. But they can fucking pay for it themselves. This whole system of supporting people because they made bad choices is a horrible scheme. If they can't afford to have a kid and want an abortion... FINE... they can pay for their mistake. People blaming politicians for not funding family planning and they accidentally have a kid they can't afford then can't get an abortion because it's not free need to gain a little personal responsibility. They fucked up. Now they want the Govt to pay for their mistake and that's just wrong. |

Just Hospital costs alone during the child birth can easily go up to 15 thousand dollars for a birth that isn't complicated. That's not even including any of the doctor visits or classes people usually do before hand. How many average people do you think have an extra 20 grand sitting around? Meaning the bulk of the population can't afford to have a baby with out assistance due to the costs of medical care in this country and the insane cost of health insurance. Yet of course Republicans are against all three, affordable health care insurance, raising wages and regulating medical & pharma costs. |
Life isn't fair; the sooner one learns it, the better.

This is why I say it's too bad life never teaches the Republicans any common sense as they always do the same dumb shit over and over. It's simple physics for every reaction there is a equal or greater reaction. People aren't going to stop having sex.. yet Republicans fight against teaching kids about sex ed in school and don't want condoms given out. Now they take away the funding of abortion clinics and guess what now they have a bunch of unwanted pregnancies on their hands that the state will end up flipping the bill for because they are unwanted to begin with. It's like simple logic escapes the brains of conservatives. They can't put 1+1 together to equal 2 to understand that by not having access to abortions there will be lots of unwanted or unplanned pregnancies that will end up costing the tax payers even more in the long run. Life lesson to Republicans should be that sometimes you have to pay for things you don't want to, in order to stop much larger costs down the road. Of course this simple lesson will fly right over them. |

Also, which would you prefer, spending public money on birth control and education (also potentially some abortions) or spending it taking care of kids that are born to unfit mothers? In a perfect world people would take responsibility for themselves. They wouldn't have kids if they weren't in a position to care for them and they would not have unprotected sex, but we don't live in a perfect world. |
It's not like Republicans weren't warned this would happen..

Btw Texas is also one of the if not the top of the list for teen pregnancy. The national average is 34 per 1000 Texas is 52.2 per 1000. Go figure.. |

In the end biology wins. Biology and the desire/drive to screw in many people trumps values, morals, logic and common sense. You can only hope to inform people so that when they follow through with that desire/drive they can protect themselves. |
imagine how these 24k kids are going to end up with idot parents raising them.

I grew up in a small redneck town and I saw it my whole life and still see it today. There is one woman I went to high school with who is now 41-42 years old (my age) she is married and has three kids and she and their entire family lives with her mom sharing one bedroom. Two of her three kids are now adults 18 and 20 years old. they don't work, don't go to school and do nothing, but she brags and brags about how great they are and how responsible they are because she told them to not whip it out until they were ready to commit to that girl forever so they haven't (yes, she is foolish enough to think they are virgins and they are just spending the night at girl's houses and sleeping on the couch because it is "convenient") as if not knocking a girl up is the greatest thing they could ever achieve. What is worse is that she is teaching them that five people living together in a tiny room while one of them works part time to support the others is perfectly fine. It is just batshit crazy and it appears there is no cure for it. |
