Adult webmasters get a bad rep...

Don't u guys hate it when you tell people what you do....(adult webmaster) and they look at you like the worst/evil person in the world ?

Geez, i've gotten so tired of it over the years I just tell people I own regular sites like web hosting. (which is true as well)

Even regular site webmasters don't like us...like webmasterworld and others. They don't even let us discuss adult site webmastering.

Babaganoosh 03-11-2013 05:56 PM

I got over that shit years ago. I started telling people what I do as soon as occupations come up in conversation. I stopped lying/hiding it because anyone who would be offended by what I do isn't someone I would want to know anyway.

"Internet Marketing"
half of my shit is mainstream anyway so I can discuss that and leave the adult out if need be.

Right now I only tell a select few.. because I have a job as an engineer.. but i both fear and cant wait for the day that my site gets good enough to pay the bills and i get to quit and do this business.. The double edged sword comes into play when my dream comes true and i get to just run a business and have fun with adult shit... but people will most definitely ask what i do to make the money to stay afloat..

So i set up a LLC of a completely arbitrary name that looks like it could be anything "Fusionfire Solutions"... and i say i do websites for people, buy and sell website domain names, inventing, and odd computer jobs.. I actually do websites for people though, and maintain them.. like my parent's business and my sister's business. Then i'll take on one or two website designs a year and design it.. then put it up on freelancer [dot] com and figure out the price for someone else to do it, put a markup on it as a facilitator, and get the site done.

that's my cover...

if you're worried about people getting offended... and misjudging you... get a cover..

If you dont give a fuck what people think.. dont.. I'm mostly worried about what my wife's family will think.. my parents and whole family already know.. obviously my wife does too.. and they think it's a riot

Luckily for me my friends and family find it quite amusing and are pretty interested in what i do. I have only started running a few small adult sites and they don't get into what i run but they do find it interesting and if they didn't then i'm not the type to worry too much about it.

When I have told people they are first taken back a bit. But it seems a few girls will always say."Oh, I thought about doing a site once". My friends think its cool.

Agreed. My friend's wife is like that. We cool, but the minute anything about my job and what I do comes up, she gets all sadity! Not like I give a shit... so I intentionally bring it up! lol

It's not only with webmasters like that. I think most people involved in adult share same pain. Many people are just intolerant and close-minded.

RachelBlackG 03-12-2013 03:00 PM

I don't tell people about adult, I always tell them about my mainstream sites. It's easier - for me and for them too.

livexxx 03-12-2013 04:34 PM

When you say they got a bad rep, I thought you meant they had hired someone

Tittytweaker 03-13-2013 09:49 AM

Tact. It's useful to have. I don't really think people react negatively because they are close minded, it's just that this whole thing is, and probably always will be, pretty fringe. Most peoples sex lives and porn habits go on behind closed doors, it's something they consider private, so it's easy to be taken aback when you hear that it's actually someones profession. Hypocritical? Sure, but not unexpected. Needless to say it's probably not something to bring up at a dinner party or your wife's company picnic. There are probably only a handful of people within your life that need to know. Then again, if you make enough "fuck you money" with it who cares what anyone else thinks?

I'm with you on the FreeLancer...discovered them a couple years back. That site is friggin great. hire some kid from india (that has great reviews)to resolve your coding issues and it only costs a few bucks... Then, the little indian kid is jumping for joy for his small amount of pay. But try hiring for the same project from someone in the u.s., and the ripoffs want $hundreds$. I know people that have their own businesses now...just hiring people from Freelancer to do projects for peanuts....and then reselling /re-sourcing here in the U.S. Just to do Graphics, Websites, or whatever else is on their list.

It's good and bad kinda for the economy....Bad I guess for smart techies here in the U.S. (gettin outsourced from other poor countries)

lollllll.... Same here. And every single time the girl says it like in a dreamy mindset....never having a clear picture...just dreaming practically. The easiest ones to ripoff.

The rep of a adult webmaster is nowadays better then the guy in the suit who is a banker :-)

Mark.Roy 04-06-2013 10:20 PM

"Internet Marketing"
that it.

if they still want to know more, tell them, you buy ad on google adwords.

i used to tell, i do seo, and when i go in detail, they look like, they are not interested., :P
