60s punk enthusiasts... are you familiar with this?
Seriously... give it a full listen... It's quite awesome.
|
pretty cool. kinda reminds me a bit of the monks.
|
Yup, there is a little bit of Monks sound in this for sure!
|
Their sound kind of reminded of this Japanese 60's psychedelic band:
Amazingly, they recently reunited: Flower Travellin' Band put out some incredible albums (if you can find them). Here is the FTB website: http://www.flowertravellingband.com/ :stoned ADG |
Definitely cool, but not sure I'd call this punk rock. That name isn't something that came around and stuck until the mid 70s.
|
Regardless of when "punk" was coined... it existed well before the mid 70s. Iggy was doing it in the 60s.

And these guys were no Iggy Pop :winkwink: |
Good shit ADG! Love that...
Now I gotta see Eraserhead again! |

Note the sound, the style, and the dates...and then tell me that Iggy's music had nothing to do with punk, or better yet, ask all of the punk bands that listed Iggy and the Stooges as a major influence. :2 cents: :stoned ADG |
LOL... why dignify it ADG. The second I saw "Iggy Pop wasn't punk rock" posted... his credibility was lost.

Anyway... the point of this thread was to share "The Blackmen" and to give people an opportunity to hear something that perhaps they've never heard before.
|
LOL, I thought it was just a blanket of noise at first then I realised that every embedded video on this page was playing at once!

I too have started noticing lately that YouTube videos are starting to play automatically when I click on or refresh GFY pages containing embedded videos. It's friggin' annoying!!! Couple this with the increasing slowness of GFY's servers, and the virtual absence of any mods around to curb the fake nicks and trolls, and this place is slipping even further into the shitter of late. :angrysoap :stoned ADG |
WTF - Its just random noise - .....
|
|
take a look at this, really cool stuff: arguably the first punk band ever came from Peru and was in active in the mid 60s.
Without further ado: LOS SAICOS!!!! (that's how Spanish people pronounce "Psychos") |
That rocks bro, good stuff

Alas, that was Plastic Bertand's only hit song, and it turns out that Plastic Bertand did not even sing his hit song, Ca Plane Pour Moi (it was actually sung by the song's writer and producer). :stoned ADG |

I agree with you though. :) I enjoyed the clip and certainly it may be an inspiration for punk while not actually being punk. |
Iggy had/has great pop sensibilities, but he is/was definitely punk...
Iggy's tunes covered by others (the cover songs were bigger hits than Iggy's orginals): http://rokpool.com/files/artist/tumb...vqkpo1_400.jpg http://cdn1.culturelabel.com/media/c...file_41_80.jpg http://streetbonersandtvcarnage.com/...9/iggy-pop.jpg :stoned ADG |

Iggy is sort of a planet all his own. Punk visited his planet now and then. |
More coolness...
