xhamster wants $$ for you to upload videos with watermarks LOL

never tried to upload before but now that I have my own content I am blown away by xhmasters audacity LOL :1orglaugh

http://xhamster.com/content_program.php

DO NOT UPLOAD content with WATERMARKS (text domains or logos). In case if you own the copyrights please contact us to get a sponsor's account

If you are a content producer and you want to promote your paysite on xHamster.com - please check this page to get sponsor's account for posting videos with a banner and affiliate link!

check out paidperview.com we encourage watermarks on there ;)

blackmonsters 05-14-2013 12:29 PM

But there is even more irony in the fact that if tubes had never removed watermarks then
some sponsors would have contacted them to give them more free content and DMCA
wouldn't be anything for them to have ever worried about, and after tubes got too many
offers to upload free content, sponsors would have tried to "cheat" by paying the tubes for listings.

LOL

they did not need your revshare program years ago when ripping content producers off left and right LOL...nor do they give you a cut from their banners...but if you legally want to promote your own content its gonna cost you LOL

Yeah, because they are just gonna give you their traffic for free, right? :upsidedow

NaughtyVisions 05-14-2013 01:31 PM

I don't have an account on xhamster, so maybe I'm seeing something different, but what I'm seeing seems fair enough to me (this is, of course, looking at them strictly at this point in their business life and ignoring past practices):

Quote:

Welcome to xHamster's Program for Content Producers!

Now you can earn money with xHamster promoting your content (videos and photos) to xHamster's users (~20,000,000 unique visitors/day). Posting on xHamster is 100% free, we earn only when you earn with your revshare program.

How to start?

1. You need to own rights for the content. Be ready to provide documents (2257, ids, model releases).

2. Register a free account on xHamster, send us your username and a link to your affiliate program. If you have no affiliate program - we can discuss terms for posting.

3. We'll send you a letter with our username in your affiliate program and upgrade your account. You'd be able to add a list of your sites with banners.

From what I see, they want to sign up to your affiliate account to get compensated for sending your site traffic. If you don't have an affiliate account, they want to discuss some time of terms for them to get compensated.

I would think this would be a standard practice for a legitimate/legal tube...

I forget who always says it here so I can't give them any attribution but "you can't flunk out of porn". Our industry has some real morons in it. Even at the very top.

I won't say who it was because I think they are decent people but this confirmed it for me that some people don't realize how screwed they are getting by these tubes. Someone posted about making something like $33,000 over the course of many years from one tube. The problem? They were on the first page for the channels with millions and millions of views. $33,000 isn't a lot of money when less than a decade ago comparable exposure would have made at least $300,000 if not $3 million. I made over $30,000 a year simply by submitting one stinking avs site per week to one avs with no other promotion. And that was using sponsor content.

Unfortunately webmasters and affiliates are not able to upload stuff there.

Only content owners and program owners. They leave webmasters and affiliates out of the deal. Sucks. Truly sucks. Seriously.

I know man....but how the fuck do you survive?
Tubes have decimated the industry.
People dont shoot anymore, there is no new content to use to create traffic, and the sales slow down, so nobody creates new sites....so nobody shoots , just a vicious circle...honestly the only reason people make any money it seems is that so many have left.
Go to xbiz and go read the Fabian interview with Robbie...make your head spin.

The genie is out of the bottle...what can you do?

We need smart people and for somebody nobody can come up with a solution...why can't they ?

epitome 05-14-2013 10:38 PM

Where do they want money?

They want to be an affiliate and send traffic through a banner and link where they'll earn money if someone buys a membership through the promo vid they're hosting for free.

This is different than any other tube how?

I believe Xhamster has a team of inhouse and offshore employees who upload pirated content to the site 24/7, all without watermarks. The inhouse/offshore pirated content replaces all of the low quality watermarked stuff webmasters and affiliates would normally submit. And so far, it has proven to be a very successful strategy for them. Their site has an alexa rank of 44.

If you own content you cannot post it unless you pay but if you have no copyrights then you have no permission to post it in first place.

the adult industry should seriously look in to DDOS ing the tubes...they are dirty underhand players the whole lot, and deserve every dirty trick in the book to be played against them....we should pool money and give to hackers and just enjoy pulling the tubes down with us...

you can NOT upload videos with a watermark without cutting them in on your affiliate program...they do not say "give us money" but they do not let you upload for free either...

if you want to upload with no water mark this is no problem :1orglaugh

- Copyrighted videos/photos or videos/photos you haven't rights to post
- Watermarked videos/photos (people don't like them)

OK I get it - but WHY would someone want to upload a watermarked video without a link back? I understand affiliates do this but for a big site like XHamster - in fact, for ALL the "big tubes" - affiliates can't really play with them anyway.

I am a content producer not an affiliate. I own my own material ( :1orglaugh ) and links mean very little to me, I do not care about google or keywords...the easiest ROI for me is mass upload of videos with a watermark.

Should be a fair and square deal:

tube gets free video, sells its grow your dick pill scammy banners, everybody makes money...

the pinnacle of irony is that they did not cut in content producers on the banner money when they flat out stole their material and offered for free on the net, but now that the rape is over, they want a cut from you :1orglaugh " we only make money when you make money" and "people dont like watermarks" AHAHAHAHAHAH

You can stop trying to sell what the asshole down the street is giving away for free. Unfortunately it's just going to get worse. In a couple years instead of bragging about making $33,000 from one tube over four years it will be bragging about making $10,000 or being able to pay the server bill. It's like being a gold miner and seeing the price of gold drop to 1/25th of what it was. What do you do? You stop mining. There are plenty of other things besides paysites to sell and even more so in other industries. There isn't much you can do when there is an asshole down the street giving it away for free.

notinmybackyard 05-17-2013 06:34 AM

You have to be a complete fucking idiot to give a tube site a copy of all the documentation to the content you produced. Especially one that is based outside of your legal jurisdiction. Give them a copy of the documentation and you should also just hand over a copy of the keys to your car and house while your at it.

There are simple solutions to tube sites
Feel free to choose one

1) Stop producing and within 1 to 2 years the tube sites will only be filled with some short penis guy having sex with his fat girl friend filmed using his Ipad.

2) Flood the tube sites with garbage on a massive scale. Punters want their masturbation to be easy. If they need to sort through thousands of videos with no sex in them. They will look elsewhere

3) Bundle all DVDs with Adblock software

4) Flood the file lockers and torrent sites with really poor quality copies of your videos. Most uploaded tube videos come from punters that download from file lockers and torrent sites and reupload to tube sites. These jerks freak out when anything is uploaded less than 240p

5) Stream your videos member's areas. And some webkiddie needs to figure out how to put a big fat watermark right in the middle of the screen that is only visible if the punter rips the video to their desktop.

PS. Tube sites are starting to get the backlash from advertisers complaining that no one clicks on their banners and even less buy. And in some cases they find out that 70% of the clicks are just bots. Which is probably the real reason tube sites are now "reaching out" to the producers. So be smart, do not cooperate with them and watch them hang themselves.

PPS. I am still just a wanker nobody. Deal with it.

I've long since moved on from that. I'm only saying that having the idiot down the street pass out the product for free killed a large chunk of the business. And that's primarily what did it. I was able to convert some sites still 1:200 with volume back as late as 2008. You can't do that now. It's available all for free so they won't pay at that rate. All bullshit aside most of us know exactly why it has changed whether we will admit it or not.

What you are saying I think is to do something else. I agree. But there's no reason why we can't call the people responsible for it the assholes they are. They've cost many of us a lot of money and have shattered many dreams.

Who said new porn is required at all?
There's lots of old porn which is no more for sale and whose producers are no more in business (especially european, russian ones), so not going to file any complaint. Most people would not mind if a tube got porn from 1990's or early 2000's as long as it is good vhs or dvd rips. Friend of mine was porn movie director in the past and he pass me links of his movies he finds just for a laugh as he no more even had a copy for himself except old VHS. Same goes with all those russian teensex sites who close, their movies are good looking, appears as "new" to most viewers, and will circulate forever like public domain.

it will bring them down tho....true about everything you said but in this cut throat business loyalty of viewers lasts for exactly how long you feed them with good and free content...take away the good or the free and you are fucked...they need quality content no doubt about this...

look at it this way...xhamster may be the shit now, but as soon as their new content becomes worse than any other free site they are pretty much fucked...

Content with watermarks is usually used by spammers to promote paysites and dating sites, it's why xHamster and many other tubes don't like it. If you own a paysite with affiliate program or a site without it but with cool and unique content, you can contact xHamster, get a producers account and earn money, as >1000 of webmasters do. If you enjoy bullshit, as user crucifissio - you can post a stupid thread on GFY and be happy.

id rather not deal with your monkey support that is too lazy to actually read e-mails or even respond...tells me a lot about your company, most of which everybody here already knows...you make money off of banners, and built your livelyhood off of content theft, and everybody and their gold fish knows it, yet you want a cut from the producers now? :1orglaugh

Watermarks are used for copyrighted videos from legit producers or for SPAM. People who post their own copyrighted videos get a producers account and post videos with watermarks without any problem, it's same for most of the tubes
