Best place to get parts for a MAC

My kid's laptop died, the keyboard went out. She shipped it to me from college and I took it to an Apple store. When they opened it, they found a dead bug in it and won't fix it and they will not sell me parts to fix it. It needs a new keyboard.

I have no problem repairing computers, laptops are easy to repair when it's something mechanical.

I can't believe those people at Apple over this

Any college you go to, they use MAC's, my daughter bought a MAC to help her with her studies. I think that was a pretty rationale decision don't you?

She has a Ipad, Iphone and a Mac laptop, they work together

Why not take the bug out and try again?..

When I worked at Apple, I set up a lot of 'dispatches' that I wasn't supposed to when customers really needed a replacement part, most of the time for free, too... If you have some kind of warranty, might want to try calling tech support until someone will help.

What is a MAC? Because it's not Apple hardware. Those are Mac, short for Macintosh.

Damien would have been all over that.

Find a local Apple Service Provider in your area. They'll fix it up.

Warranty ran out, going to go pick up the laptop now and see what I can do, but they told me over the phone they can't sell me the parts

They're not supposed to, but some people do it anyways over the phone. Not the 1800-Myapple number, but the Applecare tech support. It's set up for selling or dispatching free parts to anyone, but barely anyone working there knows how to do it.. I wish I still had their Peoplesoft access. :(

When I worked for Apple, we didn't like the 'geniuses' at all.. They called us when they had problems and were pretty dumb and dickish..

I studied advanced electronics in the Navy over 30 years ago. Taking things like a laptop apart is easy.
I went over the whole unit with a magnifying lens and found no signs of any bugs in her laptop. I've got a phone call scheduled with Apple today, if that doesn't work, going back to the store and have a talk with the manager if they even have one. I'm pissed that I have to go thru this because of some little shit in a back room.
