Rupert Murdoch warns Facebook faces same fate as MySpace
http://bvanthro.wikispaces.com/file/...81/fbvsms2.jpg
Rupert tweeted: Look out Facebook! Hours spent participating per member dropping seriously. First really bad sign as seen by crappy MySpace years ago. Btw, he bought MySpace for $580m in 2005, but offloaded the company in 2011 for just $35m after failing to revive the social network's fortunes. |
pretty sure rupert doesn't get social media. he failed once as proof.

Sour grapes
|
facebook will stay long time, they connected all into their system and lots of stuff coming so it will be ok for them
|

|

Like you don't need to be a best nascar driver to know that its bad when engine is melting down. Or in this case you don't need to be good at social media to know that its bad when users spend less time on the site than before. |
Rupert Murdoch is incorrect. Maybe it would have been better if he bought MySpace, turned it into it's own company, then did an IPO. Facebook is integrated into many websites, comment forms, apps and logins, and as a publicly traded company... I don't see it going anywhere. As for mobile users increasing and SMS dropping, this is true because of WhatsApp, Line, Viber, etc, but social media like FB, Twitter, and Instagram are similar to microblogs where friends and family can connect or big shots / celebs can connect with fans. I don't see it going anywhere, I see it evolving.

Have you seen the games Facebook is working on? They have a lot of Huge Free games coming soon. Nothing like what they have now, but premium class games. Everything from FPS to RPG's.
They will work across platforms, so you can play against your friends(or meet new friends whilegaming), and it don't matter what platform you have or how fast your client is, it will scale to whatever you have. |
Facebook will be around for many, many, many years. Fucking everybody uses it these days. My girlfriend's grandmother uses Facebook, for fuck's sake. The apps alone keep many people coming back. I'm totally addicted to their Scrabble app and Angry Birds.
:) |
I am bored of facebook. If i didnt have business connections on there, id probably never go back. I dont post anything there anymore really. Just play a stupid game for a break now and then.
BTW people use facebook to go against you. Be prepared to explain every person on your friends list. |
Dont use facebook - Cant see it going the same way as myspace yet anyway!

I am ready for the next thing. |
This is dumb, of course they will.... someday. Soon as technology changes making something else better, it'll go away like anything else over time.
|
Never used it. Can't see me ever using it...
|
Rupert Murdoch is the closest thing we have to walking, talking feces on the planet earth. Hopefully his empire can die when he does -- which hopefully is soon.
|
no online social network has withstood the test of time. fb will be no different.
|
The most legit statement I can make about this is the following :
"I don't have a clue about social media". I didn't foresee a website like this being popular and still don't know why they are. I got a facebook account and tried it and was scared when I saw an ex-girlfriends profile, so I never went back. :1orglaugh |
Facebook ?
|
All the wiretapping has taken its toll.
|
People are taking their lives back, FB user time is dropping as many people are intentionally spending less time on FB due to it consuming so much time, perhaps they are going back to watching TV lol Also so many other places to consume your time on the internet. FB wont die for a long time but the amount of time users spend on it is clearly dropping.

MySpace, Facebook or any other social site all are at the mercy of a transient user group. The users eventually always move one to the next hottest thing. Facebook has already publicly admitted that they are losing more younger users than they gain. It's not "cool" to hang out the same place your parents do. Teens are more focused of their smart phones and that's where the next big social media platform will come from. You have to look at what the teenagers are doing because they are the future and are usually ahead of the wave. :2 cents: Facebook has become far too intrusive and it has been pissing people off. Eventually that will be it's death. |

But the new trend seems to be kids are leaving it in droves. Kids are tired of their grandparents posting stupid shit where their friends can see it. Most of them have moved over to Instagram. Who knows what will be next... |
I would liken it more to AOL phenomenon.
|
He owns the people by giving them disinformation. Maybe he is using negative publicity to fuck zuckerbergs stock holders as revenge??????

All I know is Facebook has over one billion users. That's over 1/7th of the world's population. Pretty damn impressive. Hell, there was even a hugely successful movie about Facebook. How long has it been around now? Seven years? Eight years? It might go away eventually but certainly not anytime soon. I do like Facebook, I just wish most people would use it wiser. Some of my friends post the dumbest status updates. I only update my status one or twice a week, if that. |
