http://rt.com/news/air-defense-syria-assad-993/ The first batch of S-300 air defense complexes has arrived in Syria, President Bashar Assad said in an interview to Lebanon Al-Manar. Assad also said that Syrian army is battling up to 100,000 foreign mercenaries. Assad revealed that the rest of the S-300 complexes previewed by a Russian-Syrian arms contract will be coming soon, reports RT Arabic (Rusiya Al Yaum), which has confirmed details of the exclusive interview to be broadcast on the Lebanese TV channel at 9pm local time (18:00 GMT) Thursday. |
Great. Those can be among the first to be tomahawk'd.
Money well spent. |
they dont look dangerous :1orglaugh

US war criminals will be invading soon
|
this could spin out of control quickly....
|
Now Israel can't bombing them anymore.

USA will do nothing, except help Assad where they can. The alternative to Assad is US-hating Muslims. It seems most people forget Assad is pro-USA, and most likely the best friend USA have in that region, except Israel.

Besides shooting down cruise missiles (which wouldn't deter the US as they have 1000s) it also has a range of over 150 miles, so could easily threaten aircraft in Israel. If I had to bet on it, I'd say Israel will wait until they're being assembled at launch sites and bomb them just before they become operational. Maybe some of the components have arrived in Syria, but with a system that complicated I doubt all the deliveries have been made. The real sticky point is that there are probably Russian personnel there overseeing their installation. |
so the US is trying to set up a no fly zone
and russia is delivering anti air missile systems hmm.. |
didnt Nostradomus predict the war to end all wars would start in the Middle east

we don't know shit here, but I love to read comments on subject like this, here :). As far as I know, S-300 is in service back from 1979 (this must be some modernized version), but having it on soil and know how to use it properly in various scenarios is something that is completely different story. If I understood good, this is just new amount of batteries that were already there ( that is why we didn't see attack from air like in Libya, Iraq, Serbia) and it is now protected with Panzer systems so they are not easy targets. I am just wondering will there be official Russian crew onboard and what if Israeli's attack and kill some of them?
Also, Syria is not the only one getting them: http://inserbia.info/news/2013/05/mi...ive-to-serbia/ |

Israel got air to surface missiles with a range over 150-200 miles, so they can out range the S-300 easily.
|
OUT - easily, but not IN :1orglaugh

FYI CyberSEO: Israel is not Georgia.
What are the Russians going to do? Attack a nuclear armed country that hides behind the skirt of the world's most powerful nation? Leaving aside the time they deliberately killed Americans in 1967, and were punished with billions in American taxpayers' money every year since, Israel has been deliberately killing different nationalities in UNIFIL for decades, one of the most recent examples being the attack in 2006 in their war against Hezbollah. Israel does WTF it likes, wherever it likes, and nobody does shit about it. Russia, meanwhile, is a weak, pathetic joke; a virtually failed state. |
