Could be volcanic ash or a big hail storm, I don't have a clue what's going on down there.

Lived in South Africa for 10 years and never saw a single snowflake.

Stay away from the roads for the next few days, something tells me the snow-driving skills are not up to scratch in Cape Town

apparently its not unusual for snow there, although early

Sarah_Jayne 06-04-2013 10:09 AM

I need to go to South Africa. I have this weird goal of English speaking Commonwealth countries and it is a holdout.

It's not unusual for it to snow in the mountains of Ceres. A few hours drive outside of Cape Town. Table Mountain occasionally gets a few flakes of snow right at the top of the mountain during a cold winter.

Snow in Sea Point and the downtown area? I almost want to say it's never happened, but I'd have to do some research. Definitely not in my lifetime or my parents.
