Low Sales Excuses, Month-By-Month
 

You see it almost every week here on GFY: blaming the "time of the year" for low sales.

So let's break it down, month-by-month. Why? Because I honestly don't see these "slow times" matching up with the below list of excuses. Besides, if these excuses were reality then most Webmasters (if not all) would notice them, complain about them and do something about them. The below list may be "factors" but not "the reasons".

Sales low? Here's why:

January: Post-Holidays slowdown; Holiday credit card bills come due.
February: Shortest month; Presidents Day, Valentine's Day, Super Bowl (betting).
March: St. patrick's Day, March Madness (betting), Spring Break
April: Taxes, Spring Break, beginning of baseball season (betting)
May: NBA and NHL play-offs (betting), Memorial Day Weekend (mass travel)
June: HS/College Graduation, NBA Finals (betting)
July: "summer slowdown", 4th of July Weekend (mass travel)
August: "summer slowdown", vacation time (mass travel)
September: Back-to-school, Labor Day Weekend (mass travel), NFL starts (betting)
October: baseball play-offs/World Series (betting), Halloween
November: NFL (betting), Thanksgiving (mass travel), Black Friday
December: Holiday shopping, Christmas parties, various Holidays (mass travel), New Year's Eve.

So according to the above list EVERY MONTH should be a slow sales month!

How much you makin a month now Peabody? You seem to be one of the few who have pushed through the hard times, kept at it and are seeing results. Good on you man, it's hard to face diminishing returns and keep at it.

the market is highly segmented these days... the days of putting a pussy pic on line and grabbing joins is long gone... find the segment you are best able to sell, and market to that segment.

one issue I'm seeing is poor photography being used to sell the 'non amateur' niche... another point to consider is some people like images and some people like video, IMHO the video types are less likely to pull out the card, even though sites must carter to both markets at some level.

personally I would stay away from the most saturated niches.... cock and shaved teens

lol so true. I'm dropping a program whose affiliate manager told me that may was a slow month for all their affiliates after I sent over 40k uniques and not one conversion.

Excuses, excuses.

heh - well, send those 40k to MY sites and you'll get about 80 sales.
(EDIT: okay maybe 70 sales since this is June and June is, traditionally, a slow month.)

Classic Porn DVDs does really well because you get the rest of the network (32 sites) with it when you join. It has John Holmes, Marilyn Chambers and others from the Golden Era. :)

Well, i honestly can say that for us, some month are slower than others. (especially in the summer).
And it can be a different in thousands of $

Every time someone whines and complains about no sales and no money in porn, they should be referred to this statement and made aware.

Yes, had a problem with some files but that is being cleaned up tonight and will be all good by morning. :)

Hah great post. When I have a down week or month, I blame noone but myself. Though i can't say overall i have down months because i reinvest every penny and continue growing as fast as my money will allow me. But I mean when one site has a dip.

I wish more people in this industry reinvested everything instead of living up to whatever they make

+ On free sites no need a registration, but for paid sites it must use full peronal info.
