Its going to happen sooner or later over here in the UK, They are pushing both the providers and the search engines to do more about CP which I fully aggree with, but it is also turning into a "ban all porn"

Rochard 06-18-2013 04:54 PM

Of course they say that. But 85% view porn on a regular basis.

It's like pot smokers. Everyone denies it, but nearly everyone does it.

Most prob very true but this has been on the cards for awhile now I was listening to a radio program about this as well, and the people who were phoning in wanted the same (all search engines or providers to block porn) While I was listening to some of the guys talking I thought ..yep wonder which tube site you use lol but you know what they say about the minority who push and push normally end up winning

wyliefox 06-18-2013 05:22 PM

Everyone who would've voted the other way was too busy looking at our sites

And they will all demand their names be added to the opt-out list (porn lovers, local perv, etc.) -- and that will be published public record?

Today the UK, tomorrow?

Here in California the voters pushed to be allowed to choose their electricity provider instead of being stuck with Southern California Edison. It was supposed to lower energy costs because you'd have competition. It backfired. Arnold Schwarzenegger beat incumbent Gray Davis in a land slide victory.

Take people's porn away. See how long it takes for them to vote you out of office.

And yet people happily watch - and often let their kids watch - movies/shows where people are getting graphically shot to death, blown to bits, stabbed or decapitated, etc. To say nothing of video games where one actively participates in the above and in which killing is usually the one & only goal.

Not that I think the above should be censored either, but the dynamic just shows how fucking insane modern Western society is. Sex is how we maintain the human fucking species, your parents did it to bring you into this world, it's how people express love, and at the very least it's fun & pleasurable & brings people closer together. What is not to like, yet our society is terrified of it.

Sorry for the rant. Not like there's anything new there, but this shit boggles my mind every time.

If they really want it, they should do it on their own.

:thumbsup dead on

Polls are only as accurate as the people taking them.

Sounds like people who don't like porn were 73% of the people who took that poll.

Of course millions and millions of people who would have voted the other way did not participate in that particular poll (hell, it would have shut their servers down)

mikesinner 06-18-2013 06:21 PM

It's right wingers using the bullshit cp line to go after mainstream porn. There is no cp on the net anymore. Anyone who knows anything about how the Internet works these days knows you can't see that shit through search engines.

Maybe once in awhile you get some idiot that starts a cp facebook page or somebody on twitter posts a pic but these guys end up behind bars pretty quickly.

It's just right wing gutter talk so they can remove the mainstream porn they hate so much but will secretly watch when no one is looking.

Were they asked in front of their wives?

Si 06-18-2013 07:30 PM

I was reading this thing about parents wanting porn to be banned by parents of some young girls.

From what I read, these "mothers" let their daughters meet strangers, got murdered, and now they want to ban porn?

I'm sure that is what the basic story was.

Surely, we should be banning bad parents from having children.

Ah, in classic GFY tradition look for any opening to be smug assholes, nice job!

For starters I was speaking to the acceptance of depictions of violence vs depictions of sex or even the naked body. Dunno where y'all live, I'm in the States where even a glimpse of a nipple on TV sends millions into a frothing frenzy and they have to discuss it for weeks in the news. Yet violence as entertainment is all over the place. If you don't think there's a fucked-up disparity there - again, I'm not even talking porn but rather just nudity - I dunno what to tell you.

Far as porn goes, I'll be the first to say that IMO these days alot of it has lost sight of what sex/sexuality's all about. There is room for improvement no doubt.

Professionally my preferences lean to vintage erotica and 'couples porn', and you can find more of what I described in both. And that's part of the reason for the rise in homemade/amateur porn's popularity, surfers want to see real couples having real pleasurable sex and you can certainly find genuine stuff out there.

InfoGuy 06-18-2013 09:56 PM

If porn gets banned, the poor saps at the sperm bank are going to have to wank to National Geographic.

Yeah that was pretty much it.

Rather than blame themselves for being shitty parents, blame it all on porn, and start a campaign to get it banned. All of it.

If it makes them feel like they are better parents, that's good enough for them...

pimpmaster9000 06-19-2013 01:50 AM

well the tubes serve porn to minors by the fork lift...it is naive to think that the internet will stay unregulated for ever...

has nothing to do with freedom of speech or what ever amendment or constitution...porn will be regulated sooner or later...

It's looking like sooner. :2 cents:

I think he was talking about how our society accepts graphic violence with ease and have no problems with our kids being exposed to it ... yet we shudder if our children saw a bare breast.

I don't think he said that porn movies contain that type of content?

Samsonite 06-19-2013 03:35 AM

Sure, why not. Iceland has already tried to ban porn outright and the EU as a whole was even considering it back in March.

I think it's pretty clear that this poll is one of those things where "respectable people" give the answer they think they're supposed to.

tony286 06-19-2013 04:35 AM

I think people voted that way not because they dont like porn. I think its they dont want porn in their face.

Thought so!

Yep, that is about it. I watched the documentary Bigger, Faster, Stronger the other day, there was a spitting image on there of these women. This guy lost his son, blamed it on steroids, turns out he was also on some dodgy anti-depression drugs that were more likely to have caused his sons death.

Guess what he campaigns against? Steroids, not anti-depression drugs. Bit like those women with porn.

Not saying I agree with steroid use, just saying this was a very similar example.

signupdamnit 06-19-2013 06:10 AM

Without viewing the exact wording of the poll and knowing more about the demographics of the people voting it means very little. For all we know some social conservative blog may have linked to it and 90% of the votes are from there.

rocky1234 06-19-2013 11:26 AM

if i can't view porn, i'm cancelling my internet. fuck opt in. let the assholes opt out. they can opt out of life too for all i care.
