Would you let a Robot perform a medical operation on you?

Again... I've been watching 'Star Wars'... But...

If you had to have an operation, and they said a completely unemotional, and purely dedicated robot was to do it, as opposed to a human surgeon, with X years of experience etc...

Would you prefer the robot or the human?

someone in my family had cancer recently they had to go the robotic route but the guy sits in the room next door controlling the machine. I don't know which I would prefer, as long as i was OUT COLD i don't really know..

I voted yes but I have to add that it is contigent on the robot having a positronic brain that is flashed with the 3 laws of robotics.

.

Yes with the caveat of Japanese robots only.

I think I would, and that's why. A robot has a much more steady hand than any surgeon.

NO... Thats the point of my question :)

Like I say, I've been on a Star Wars / sci Fi film mission lately...

So m pont is that the robot DOES NOT HAVE A 'HUMAN' Operator... :)

Hope that makes my thoughts clearer :)

I would do my research, would check how reliable/successful/etc robots are in that type of operation, then if it turned out that a robot is more successful/does a better job than a human, then sure, I would go with the robot...
