This is why I can't take Bitcoins seriously

I want to buy a Bitcoin and use it to pay an online merchant. They accept Bitcoins and Litecoins only. So, since Wednesday I've been trying to make the transaction. Everyone says BitInstant is the way to go. Problem is, BitInstant isn't processing buy orders - they finally put up a notice on their site that they are doing maintenance on their backend and it will temporarily affect transactions. Nice! At least they did that after ignoring my support tickets. Trouble is, I don't see another alternative to BitInstant for buying quickly and then using it to pay the merchant.

Maybe it's different if you want to buy/sell as an investment, but I want to get in and out, using it only to pay for a service - I don't want the transaction to be prolonged and then get hurt by market fluctuation.

Rule number one in business: make it easy for people to buy your product.

Probably less convenient than deerskins, but that's because they were using computers with 286 processors back then.

Thanks - i'll check it out. I Googles alternatives to BitInstant and didn't come up with anything as "easy" as them.

there's a history behind paper money, it's fascinating.

a couple hundred years ago in the usa you couldn't just hand someone a piece of paper and expect them to trust that note at first glance.

it's no different with any new currency. it takes time, moreover, this is a proof of concept experiment.

Thanks, I'll check it out, though I read the ebay dealers have a 20% markup.

all kidding aside, it's a legitimate problem withh bitcoin. regardless of how long other currencies took to become ubiquitous enough to be completely convenient, atm machines,e etc, we are all accustomed to that level of convenience and whatever cryptocurrency emerges as a legitimate state currency somewhere will hopefully have addresses these sorts of issues.

Try https://bitbargain.co.uk perhaps. I use it and it works great.
