These are canadian police. The reason they have to fire so many rounds is because they usually only hit their target 10% of the time. Seriously though with all their training did they not think to use the tazer first? How can they be so stupid? This is a perfect example of how a tazer could have saved lives... instead they only seem to use them if you refuse to sign your speeding ticket.

If they used the tazer first he would have dropped the knife. No reason they couldn't taze him before putting 9 rounds in him. The cops are clearly incompetent.

Well, I don't think the article says how many bullets struck him. I bet half of them ended up in the stucco of a check cashing place across the street.

Obviously the guy was a menace and needed to be in jail or a psych hospital. I just don't like it when police are so quick to take someone's life when there were obviously other options available. Give the nutjob his day in court.

Toronto cops are pretty bad. There is a history of abuse of power. During the G20 riots they illegally detained and arrested 100's and beat dozens for no reason. Every single cop got off even with video evidence.

I was listening to a toronto talk radio yesterday at work (like always) they had a bunch of ex top cops call in - they said you just block all the doors and wait - then just go in and get him after a while.
