California peeps: LA vs San Diego

Would love to live in either city for a portion of the year
For those in or around LA and San Diego....

Are there any major reasons you chose to live in one over the other? Thanks.

Because it is where I grew up.

pauliexray 08-18-2013 02:31 PM

There is more porn in LA

It really depends on your idea of fun. And they are so close you can drive to the other to have some fun. San Diego has great weather. Lots of Los Angeles has great weather too, but the best weather spots with cost a lot more to live there.

Which is why I am not moving . . . ever. I got in here far too cheap (even by 1985 standards) to even consider moving. I'd tear my house down and start over before I'd move.

San Diego is a nice city but way too quiet and too small for me. I've been in LA 20+ years and can't imagine living anywhere else, though I do sorely miss NYC.

Southern California sucks donkey balls. Traffic, smog, crime, high cost of living, and sucky beaches.

You would have to pay me a lot to live there.

Not much crime as far as I can tell

You could not pay me to move to your part of the state. :2 cents:

I like where I live. The weather is decent, plenty to do, close enough to Sacramento if I need to feel urban, and close to San Fran, Reno, and Tahoe. SoCal, Vegas, and even Phoenix are quick flights away.

Keep in mind when I say "Southern California" I really mean "Anything south of the Grapevine, and badly influenced by the fact my in-laws live in Fontana. We drove down last month, decided to drive at night to avoid traffic, and son of a bitch we traffic multiple times at 2am in the morning. Fuck that.

baddog 08-18-2013 05:48 PM

Well, I can totally understand suggesting Fontana sucks. I remember many years ago I was in a cowboy bar in the middle of TX and some guy wanted to give me some shit because I was from CA. His buddy told him to back off, there was nowhere more cowboy than Fontana, CA

and my daughter went to UC Davis, so I went to that area all the time, the weather sucks. IMO

(okay, it is better than Phoenix)

Lived in both and I love San Diego. Beautiful weather, beaches and ladies. Less traffic as well than LA, but then again I don't really drive much.

NaughtyRob 08-18-2013 07:23 PM

If I could afford it I'd live in/near San Diego in a heart beat. Not LA.

You live far to close to Rio Linda, and there is no place that ghetto in Socal. Not even Fontana/Colton are that bad.

Norcal people have all the broke people. So i'm sure that's why you like it so much, since you fit in so well.

sobecash 08-19-2013 01:26 AM

San Diego for me :)

KillerK 11-28-2013 09:33 PM

bump for norcal sucking

LA is the best place in the world. San Diego is cool but way to far from where the real action is :)
