Anybody here use TOR as their primary browser?

If so, do you run into issues using it? Thinking of trying it out.

klinton 11-06-2013 01:35 PM

go for it...

anyway its quite slow...but since more and more people will consciously use it ->> it should get better

The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.

fatfoo????

mikesouth 11-06-2013 02:01 PM

you will also find yourself unable to access many sites....they block proxies like tor

nexcom28 11-06-2013 02:19 PM

Yeah, you won't be able to browse GFY for instance. Plus it's very slow.

I use a program called ultrasurf, works pretty well although you still won't be able to browse gfy.

it's really slow so it makes it useless...
better get some cheap VPN service instead...

more people will use it= it will be faster as some people will use it as relay or bridge (or exit node...)

its like with torrents = just some people share files and uploads, yet it is sufficient to download movies with 10mbps speed....

not every vpn is good, secure and anonymous....

TOR is like hiding under the bed when the robber enters your house. It's the first place he's going to look.

DamianJ 11-07-2013 06:12 AM

I don't think the OP knew what it was.

Also most sites nowadays use Javascript And if you are gonna use tor with javascript you might aswell not use it as it defeats the purpose of it.

Note that the exit node (last one) sees content in clear (it can copy all), unless https/encrypted.
50% of the "volunteers" running Tor exit nodes it is 3 letter agencies: NSA/CIA/FBI in US, plus SBU(KGB) etc. in the other countries.
Remaining 50% it is split between 25% of hackers fishing for credit cards to steal, and 25% of true volunteers who just search for private porn pics or content for own curiosity.

it doesnt matter, as even they run exit nodes they still dont know exactly WHO uses network inside...
