best image compressor besides photoshop?

Id use photoshop to do the comressions but it's anoying having to do each image individualy 250 times. So if anyone knows of a good image compressor let me know please. I am already using jpeg-cruncher pro, but it sucks ass.

Depending on what version of photoshop you are using, you can set up an action for that chore. Then, just run a batch process for the whole directory. The process will compress every pic in that directory based on the instructions you've set in the action.

Is this what you were referring to about having to do 250?

You can batch resize with Superjpg
http://www.midnightblue.com

Or with Arles
http://www.digitaldutch.com/arles/
both of these have a trial for 30 days and are SUPER tools for resizing, renaming, and for making thumbs

Hope this helps! :thumbsup

ive tried to figure out how to run batches in photoshop with image compression, cannot figure it out for the life of me. I have photoshop 7. WOuld this allow me to check each image before clicking an "ok" button? I ask this because not all images can stand having a "30" compression but most can.

Macromedia Fireworks compresses images better than anything I've tried... and I've used a lot of programs.

simple....

new action, name, record > open one of the images > compress to satisfaction (save for web) > save > close > stop recording.

Now, go to file > automate > batch > choose your source folder (folder with images) > set destination > hit "OK".

Done.

Use Image Ready.. you can make a droplet and just drag and drop all your files onto the little icon and "presto" converted pics.
