soldierguru.com....not even taken. i wonder how many others aren't taken in .com either. these things are a waste of money. soldier.guru does not equal soldier.com!

EddyTheDog 02-27-2014 08:25 AM

Last ones - Just got gaysex.directory and gaysex.sexy

Its very early in the new gTLD and may take a few years before they become popular, but my bet is within the next 5years dot coms will lose their dominance, and in the not to far distant future dot coms will be a thing of the past.

It just basic math with tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of new sites coming online daily the need for much more expansive TLD base will be needed or guys 5years from now will be buying stuff like thisismydoimainformyautoshopbussinessandonlydotcom Icouldget.com

I might be wrong but why not shell out a few bucks and see. I chose many in the prepper type theme as those guys tend to spend a lot of extra cash on things. :winkwink:

i would say you are wrong. i buy good .com's every single day. i even pointed out that domains you registered in these extensions weren't even taken in .com. the biggest problem is everyone who is buying these is doing so hoping to resell them not develop them, so they will go nowhere. if no one has ever wanted soldierguru.com, why would anyone want soldier.guru?

Some might not be as good as others I bought, but time will tell. :winkwink:

yes, time will tell. i'm sure there will be some good sales with some of these domains but largely people won't want to pay to renew them when no offers come along and many will be dropped next year. not to mention that there will be even more of these things so your equipment domains will have to compete with .equip, .technology domains will have to compete with .tech, and so on. i would at least be cross checking against the .com's to see if they are taken or not. i see a lot of people making that mistake.

ITraffic 02-27-2014 09:36 AM

domains are pretty much becoming obsolete anyways - in many ways they already are - as most people and businesses don't use standalone sites any more but just use, participate in social communities and ecosystems like fb and yt.

ITraffic 02-27-2014 09:40 AM

all these new tld's are just a symptom of this obsoleteness.

Like I said, I think in the next few years dot coms are going to loosen is strangle hold, but also would be willing to bet, most of the 13 are the prepper ones. The guy building a bunker and stocking up usually isn't interested in following the "norm" which these may appeal. I could be completely wrong but what's a few bucks on a risk and certain my family won't miss the few bucks I spent and just kinda fun to buy something besides dot coms.

yeah, i'm sure the hundreds of thousands of companies who spend thousands buying a good .com for their company are just going to dump them for these domain hacks. nothing says pro like a dot breaking up your company name. i wasted thousands on .mobi and other stupid gtlds..i'll be sitting this cash vacuum out.

I think you are mad to buy a single domain where the extension is 9 - 11 letters all by itself! :Oh crap
