Worth to have .webcam domains?

Is it worth to have .webcam domain the new ones released by ICANN?

xpimp 06-12-2014 03:10 AM

If you check what remained free to register on the .webcam extension, you can easily notice that the premium domains like sex.webcam, sexy.webcam, cam(s).webcam, webcam(s).webcam, gay.webcam etc. are already "registered", meaning on hold by the greedy registrars so that they can sell them at an exorbitant price.

So NO, it doesn t worth it, unless you really want to pay a big load of money to those registrars.

This thing is not only available on the .webcam extension but on any extension that has been launched, the greedy chumps will follow the same procedure: get hold of the premium domains and sell them on a big price and let the rest of the world to buy shitty available names which don t have any value.

They made sure that they will not repeat the same "mistake" like with the .com, net and org when they first launched them in the 90's, because back then they didn't anticipated what big money they could make by practically doing nothing and just holding for the goodies.

My advice to any sane person, if you a have a couple of k's, is better to go always for .com or .net to buy a decent premium domain then just load to this greedy fucks tons of money because they have the privilege to hold to the good ones from the new extensions.

BE SMART, DO NOT ENTER IN THEIR GREEDY GAME! Even if you pay loads of money to one of the new "premium" extension(which by the way it should be available to register at the basic price), you still risk your skin because nobody knows if they will be reliable over time.

I think its normal and ok if they charge premiumprices for really good domains.
The first person who get his or hers hands on a premiumdomain will set a premiumprice on it anyway.

It's ok to ask let's say 200, even 300 USD/year in the first year. The .com's where much more expensive then 10 bucks when they launched but it's not ok to hold and sell them from the start at 50-100k or even more. That's the right of the owner to sell it at the price that he considers, who was the first to submit the request to buy it.

I mean the majority of people must provide real, legit value in this society so that people give them money for the products or services that they offer and that means hard work over time. In the meantime, do you find it normal that others just have the privilege to generate this new extensions and hold what they like and sell them at huge prices by providing NO VALUE to society?

As I understand it many companies take a big financial risk when they start up these new TLDs?

.webcam is currently for $27 on godaddy

You may be correct xpimp.

yes, not even the premium 2 words are not available, like livesex.webcam, webcamsex, sexwebcam, webcamporn(and viceversa), camsex etc. And of course, what does the average Joe does?
He takes something like you said sexdating.webcam, then comes to gfy and asks how much money his domains worth and guess what, everybody laughs at him because it has been suckered in the buying hype.

xpimp 06-12-2014 05:33 AM

it's a meskin pattern and you will notice it with every new extension that has been launched. Don't spend ridiculous amounts of money when with even 50k that you may pay on something like livesex.webcam, you can get a really nice premium .com domain. Let them hold as much as they like and laugh of how they new extension sinks.

The registries own the domain names -- ALWAYS.

A registry has the right to sell its property at the time of its choosing. (analogy: you sell your house or your auto when you damn well please.)

So, stop your whining already.
You can see by Huntingmoon's and Famous Fours sales of the .webcam names they offered was successful. The .webcam registry recouped a good part of their initial investment with the sale of a handful of names :thumbsup

So, who are you say they are stupid?
You have to have money to play with the big dogs -- nothing new in that ...

Only time will tell what these new gTLD names are worth both speculatively and functionally. I am more inclined to see the functional aspect. The branding value and the SEO value. The speculative value may just be a flash in the pan, and then maybe not ....

I talked from the point of view of the average Joe, who doesn't have millions to throw away on a new gTLD experiment and he really hopes from his heart that maybe this time has the second chance that he didn't took in the 90's, that's all

We are successful in getting,

Indians.webcam
indiangirls.webcam
indianbabes.webcam

One thing is surprising... FamousFourMedia ( famousfourmedia.com ) owned the domain IndianSex.Webcam which registered today. We tried to get it yesterday but it was not available to register but whois say register date 12th June... Why it was not available on 11th June?

registrar has hold the registration of indiansex.webcam a premium domain that's why we are unable to register yesterday.

The ''hold'' is from the Registry not from the Registrar most likely.
  1. It may be a premium name withheld and not for sale at this time ...
  2. It could also be a name applied for registration but the status is not finalized.
  3. Every domain applied for has to pass a trademark qualification through the TCH (Trademark Clearing House) so there may be some application finalization (or pending status) involved too.

HuntingMoon can hook you up with Premium .WEBCAM Domains, just like we did the Buyer of the 15 of them for $175k

Nobody knows yet if they will turn out to be a win or a lose. That's where the risk/reward thing comes into play :thumbsup

Hit up [email protected] to request pricing on Premium names. Some of the names referred to in this thread as being locked down have been sold by us already btw. The registry is not greedy. They are totally cool and willing to work out fair prices for early adopters - especially for those that will develop the properties.

If there is a pricelist with premium domains I want to see it of course! :)
