(CNN) -- The second Dallas health care worker who was found to have the Ebola virus should not have boarded a commercial jet Monday, health officials say.

Because she had helped care for Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan, and because another health worker who cared for Duncan had been diagnosed with Ebola, the worker was not allowed to travel on a commercial plane with other people, said Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The worker had a temperature of 99.5 Fahrenheit (37.5 Celsius) before she boarded her flight, he added.

Health care workers who had been exposed to Duncan were undergoing self-monitoring. They were allowed to travel but not on a commercial plane with other people, Frieden said.

How these people like the guy who died in Dallas and already had Ebola were allowed to come back to the US to be treated is a crime. Everybody involved in these decisions deserve to be punished. Endangering an entire country to the risk of Ebola to take in a ticking time bomb who had a low chance of survival - CRIMINAL AND UTTER STUPIDITY!!!

You leave the country and become a danger while abroad - sorry you aren't coming back in until you're no longer a danger.

The entire state of Texas should be quarantined as they have shown themselves about as capable of handling this as a third world African country. The incompetence from that places is just ridiculous.

These idiots put a woman whom had only been a nurse for 3 months as one of the primary nurses on the 1st Ebola case. They then sent the nurses in with only face masks designed for blood splatter protection and normal medical gowns and gloves. They gave the nurses nothing else.

This is on top of the incompetence of the hospital whom at first sent the original Ebola patent home even after he told them where he came from and the contact he had.

Added to this the idiots whom cleaned up at the guys apartment building were video taped pressure washing the sidewalk where the original patient vomited. These guys also had no protection, just regular clothes using a pressure washer to wash it away, right down the sidewalk drain.

That entire state seems filled to the brim with incompetent idiots.


Luckily the CdC has seen enough of the incompetence and has moved the first nurse to a different state.

The nurse that took the plane to Cleveland and back to plan her wedding is going to a Hospital in Atlanta with a High Contagion Isolation Ward. She is actually Nurse #2 diagnosed and she is in worse condition then the first Nurse diagnosed. The first Nurse reported infected has responded to treatment and her condition has improved.

There seems to be a major breakdown in protocol in Texas that will most likely result in litigation for years to come.

I've got CNN on now. They said something about this nurse calling the CDC before flying. She basically checked to see if it was okay fly with her raised temp. The CDC gave her the green light. :-/

I have a difficult time believing that hospital put a 3 month new nurse as a primary care nurse on a known ebola situation. Perhaps she was a nurse on duty when they first admitted this patient and he was not recognized as ebola.

This is like watching one of those outbreak movies - I Am Legend or War World Z - where all the characters in the movie make incredibly stupid decisions leading to further spread of the virus...while everyone in the audience is thinking, "Well...that was fucking dumb. Why'd they do that? Couldn't they see the outcome of that?!"

They didn't even have proper protective gear, not even right this min. It's "on order". The nurses didn't have any protection for their necks and head, just a splatter shield style face mask. They had to use medical tape to tape up their gowns to to protect themselves.
