Confirmed - Google Released Penguin 3.0

There was a lot of speculation about whether google released Pengiun on friday but according to https://www.seroundtable.com/google-...n-3-19313.html

on Sunday Barry Schwartz got confirmation. These serps have been all over the place but the mozcast yesterday was "strangely" low for such high volatility. I have seen some ups and downs and a lot of crawling in google webmaster tools, how is every one else doing?

Past updates had meaning to them, they did improve the quality of the search results, but now it's not improving anything at all, it's just shuffling sites around & not actually improving the search engine.

Like I said on another thread...

Yeah it is ridiculous how good these tumblr's shitty pages are ranking... they have no way fresh content and I checked, most of them are fairly new. Competently trashy sites, which you would immediately close.

Seems strange they'd say it's 'confirmed' but not offer a source.

Has anything official actually been said yet?

Update & Confirmed: Google Sunday afternoon has confirmed they have done a Penguin update. I am trying to get more details at this moment.
Early reports came from webmasters and SEOs in various online forums and social media. The SEO industry chatter is at an all time high and it all leads to Penguin 3.0 being released.
The Google Penguin algorithm, which has not been updated in over a year, since Penguin WebmasterWorld, Google Webmaster Help, DigitalPoint Forums, Threadwatch and BlackHat World. Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and other social networks are on fire now with Penguin chatter.
The first report I saw came from BlackHat World late Friday night. That thread is now about 250 threads deep and a lot of those SEOs there are claiming they were hit. But there are also a lot of people reporting major increases in rankings.
It is unclear if this is a refresh to the Penguin algorithm or a revised algorithm update. Again, I am waiting to get more details from Google on this.
But it seems like 90%+ of SEOs are in agreement that Google refreshed Penguin over the weekend. Will they reverse it? Was it a test? Will it stick? That is the big question.

This isn't evidence. This is someone saying it's 'confirmed' without proving that it was actually said.

I could make a blog post saying that Manwin has confirmed they're going to switch Pornhub over to a knitting website: it doesn't make a lick of difference if I can't source my confirmation to some official source.

Barry and his buttbudies are ears deep in Matts ass,if they post something about updates, its usually true. However disregard most of their "seo advices" :2 cents:

Haha... on a relatively competitive keyword I see a site with auto-generated gibberish content and old style meta-refresh redirects at number 1 & 2.

Welcome back to the 90's! :upsidedow:upsidedow:helpme

Google hasn't really been about unique content for some time now. It's all about the backlinks. And the spammers get them in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. For many this is simply a churn and burn strategy. They get massive amounts of spammed backlinks, start another site, rinse and repeat. Some stay ranked for decently long, some get nailed in a matter of weeks. But since they automate most of the spamming, this matters little, they're still getting their money. Whitehat is for chumps.

tornell 10-20-2014 02:15 AM

I read that page rank will no longer work

MrTrollkien 10-20-2014 02:03 PM

Let's see what others have to say about that damn google dance.

:thumbsup

Famemonster 10-20-2014 02:21 PM

I think that we are going to see a lot of penguin refreshes, because if this is what Penguin, which is supposed to fight spam and reward quality sites is, then we have not seen the last of this update. I doubt it is going to take a year until we see another refresh, I would think that Pengiun will becme like panda, just constantly rolling out.

Google News was filled with multiple redirect spam sites for gaming. It is a bunch of BS.

GAMEFINEST 10-20-2014 02:26 PM

If any of you have paid any attention to what gewgul does when rolling out another animal update or refresh you would have noticed that shitty sites rule the roost for only a short time. Once the update is universal across all it's data centres things even out again and the spam sites disappear. Quit whinging and get over it.
