My 16 yr old has an insane pain threshhold!
 

So my daughter has been having some issues with her pancreas and we went to see her Dr last week - not so elevated - stay on a clear diet for a few days and then come back for followup - followup we get there and do her lab work and her numbers sky rocketed to well over 1500 and is supposed to be no more than 300 - she slammed her into the hospital that very day and we've been there all week - but the Dr said she had the most non-symptomatic Pancreatitis she'd ever seen in her career - grown men would be screaming in pain with a case like this - and here she was barely acting like she had anything more than a stomach ache!! lol

She is fine - I just thought it was funny that she just walked in there like she stumped her toe - lol

Stubbing a toe hurts WAY more than having a tumor removed based on my experience. They insisted I would want the pain medication for around a week but nope, didn't hurt at all.
Glad your daughter didn't have pain too.

People use 'like a root canal' as a comparison for great physical pain. I've had root canals and they were very tolerable. Maybe before modern local anesthetics a root canal was very painful and the legend has persisted even though it's no longer true.

Stubbing your toe for the few minutes it lasts is insane, you can't think straight, your heart rate goes through the roof, your eyes tear, you feel like vomiting, anything - I don't believe ANYBODY stubs their toe unexpectedly and doesn't go through the same routine whether they have a high pain threshold or not. If the experience of stubbing your toe lasted for an hour people would need to be knocked out or they would die of heart attacks.

People are wimps, admire things that use to be just the way it was as if its amazing

Yeah I am the same way, stumping my toe can make me do some really nasty screaming and dancing - it was more a figure of speech and a bad one, now that I think of it. But she wasn't complaining and when asked what umber she'd put on it, she said something like a 3-4 or something - the Dr almost passed out. lol

She is going to be fine though - it's seeming to be a family thing - last year this time, my oldest daughter had the exact same thing and we thought she was going to die, she was in so much pain - so not sure - but she is fine and that's all I care about

and she is one tough little cookie, for sure. lol

Didn't really think to run by you before I made a post about why I haven't been reachable, my deepest apologies about that!

I have a low threshold, just talking about pain hurts for me. Glad your daughter's ok Tam and that you're back home too
