I thought we were talking about the good stuff; and it was really good for a freaking cider. I just started getting into them this past summer because it was so hot around here. They are usually good for daytime session drinking. In craft, "session" means a beer that the ABV is low enough that you can have 2 or 3 and not fall on the floor. This was definitely not a session cider. :1orglaugh

All the ciders up here have salt of phosphoric acid added. Just like cheap wine. They both taste like shit. I am going to drink cider if I ever find myself in California though. We all long for the unadulterated.

Lots of diff ciders here, cause I'm next to Somerset, birthplace of cider...

I dont drink it though...

Klen 12-04-2014 02:32 AM

I didn't know for existence of cider till they started to import somersby cider here.
And they were sort of annoying with ads with lord somersby and his shit.
Tried it few times, decided not to drink it anymore due chemical taste.

EddyTheDog 12-04-2014 02:50 AM

I got so sick on drinking to much of the cheap stuff when I was a kid once that I could not touch it again until recently...

When I'm over in the UK, I love sampling the house ciders of the different pubs. ;-)

Otherwise I usually go for Bulmer Pear (or apple if I have to).

Manfap 12-04-2014 03:52 AM

We produced about 2000 litres last year from the village orchards.
Organic, nothing but apples pressed and left in the barrel for atleast 4 months, then bottled.
Proper cider, 6%+ dry and flat.
I get around 200 free bottles a year so is my daily drink with meals.

I must ask, what was the theory behind that particular diet? Just cider, no food?

Vendzilla 12-12-2014 11:50 AM

Angry Orchard and Sailor Jerry rum. Warm it up with a little cinnamon. Great on a rainy day like today

dyna mo 12-12-2014 11:51 AM

went with an angry orchard, very delicious :thumbsup

Tried this apricot cider the other day and it was VERY good! Not to sweet, yet with just the right bite.

I'll look for that, I love apricots but can't do the overly sweet drinks, would you say it's about as sweet as apple cider or ?

Depends on the apple cider. I happen to like my fairly sweet. Its less sweet then Widers, and angry orchard and a bit more tart. found this one at whole foods.

nice, I had figured all apple ciders were about the same sweetness, angry orchard hasn't struck me as too sweet so that apricot cider has potential!

I have had some that are heavy on the sweet side and some that are way to heavy on the dry side. I wish I remembered the name of this one from a while back. A guy at BevMo recommended it, saying it wasn't to dry. Yet it was one of the worst cyders I had ever tried. It tasted like someone pored champagne into a tall can and left it sitting out for a month.
