The 19 Ingredients in McDonald?s Fries

The 19 Ingredients in McDonald's Fries - Including a Form of Silicone Found in Silly Putty | Natural Society

Ever wonder what makes up highly popular fast food, such as McDonald?s chicken nuggets or french fries? If the fast food giants recently launched ?transparency campaign? tells us anything, it?s that the public is increasingly demanding truth and change. But what McDonald?s ?truth campaign? isn?t telling us is that much of its food is lathered in questionable, health-compromising ingredients.

In the most recent transparency video from McDonald?s, Grant Imahara explains that there are 19 ingredients in America?s favorite fries, one of which is polydimethylsiloxane, which is used in the production of silly putty. This seemingly ?essential? french fry-Silly Putty ingredient has been making headlines, and I can tell you that it won?t be the last headline you see.

jesus christ, who would expect that they may put so much staff into simple fries... potatoes and oil, that's all what it should be there....

klinton 01-30-2015 05:27 PM

btw. if the fries would be "normal" as they should be - oil and potatoes, you would probably have to pay for them 2 times more and wait 3 times more...

so basically - you get what you pay for..or LEARN TO COOK :winkwink::winkwink:

This is my favorite red herring. Just because an ingredient is used in multiple recipes doesn't make it a boogeyman.

Did you guys know that dihydrogen monoxide is used in French Fry creation to? It's a major component of the most powerful acids in the world, has been linked to severe burns (some of which have lead to death!) and kills thousands of people every year. It's also known as water.

You can always tell when someone's grasping at straws to find something bad about a product when they rely on the whole 'ingredient from X' bullshit.

Please tell us more about chemistry. I like water myself, but surely you do not pretend to know what that other chemical is?

I don't, but what I do know is that there are huge government organisations that are devoted to ensuring the safety of the food that we eat, and if there were any risk associated with this ingredient, it would be immediately brought up and discussed.

McDonald's also wouldn't risk using something that could be directly linked to poor health. You just have to look at their history of lawsuits to see how even serving a coffee too hot can lead to your profits being thrown down the toilet.

You can make practically anything look scary by listing the long words in it. In fact, the only thing you eat on a daily basis that wouldn't have a huge list of unpronounceable words would be salt.

Let's take a look at a banana:

https://jameskennedymonash.files.wor...g?w=604&h=853p

Does this suddenly make you think that bananas are evil and going to kill you? Probably not, and rightfully so, because there's nothing to fear from words that are hard to say.

Unfortunately in the US these agencies are not fit for purpose, they are filled with people who've temporarily switched over from Monsanto and other large corporations, soon after they switch back again. Let's hope that the situation in Europe never gets that bad. :2 cents:

I stop eating at Mcdonalds when I watched a video a few years back of their burgers that won't decomposed. It's scary to think that you eat these stuff and won't even change for a very long time.. It's almost like you're eating plastics..

WTF are you talking about ? these are chemicals naturally included in bananas.

nobody on that video desribes what is the chemical content of normal, natural potato.

they talk what they ADD to preserve it better, store it longer and make it faster (french fries).

so cut the bullshit

Don't know a single person who eats in McDonalds, Burger King and similar puke places. I always thought it's for rednecks and poor people who can't afford a normal food. Why there is so many attention?

Surely you can see the difference between things naturally occurring in a banana as compared to manually adding anti-foaming agents and chemical preservatives to something.

McDonald's sells over $2 BILLION+ dollars worth of burgers every year in Russia. Someone is eating there. The only reason why you don't eat there because it's an American company :1orglaugh

Sure thing, C.O. As I said above, rednecks and poor people eat that shit. Unfortunately (for you) I have no such friends or relatives. Personally I simply don't eat shit and doesn't matter which country it is related to.

Can't afford normal food? Why do people always say that? You can make awesome meals at home, especially if you're making quantity at really low prices.

Because not everybody have a possibility to eat at home like you or me. Some people have offline job and they have to eat somewhere else. Poors go to McDonnalds, others can afford a healthy organic food in normal restaurants.

Joshua G 01-31-2015 10:49 AM

i am grateful to chipotle & 5 guys & the other boutique restaurants that are killing the mcdonalds empire. they are winning so good, mcDs is actually trying to compete on their playing field of quality ingredients. LOL!

Well, Russia does have a lot of poor people so I guess that's why they sell so many hamburgers there. :thumbsup

Sure. A lot of them. Course not that much as the States have, where McDonalds makes its main profit. That's why a regular American looks 3 times fatter than any European one ;)

i'd imagine most of those people are in a hurry and don't have time for a nice sit down restaurant but the success of mcdonalds was largely based on the idea that rich and poor alike ate there as a 'treat'. at some point it became an everyday thing for some people which is a problem.

Most human beings are useless pieces of shit who will not be missed 4 minutes after they die.

McDonalds is eaten around the world because it represents America OR rather what America once was...we all know how that little experiment has played out now that politicians have sold the country out.

Mcdonalds is expensive foof in many countries, even in some poorer Eu countries as well as in Russia. Poors do not go to mcdonalds there. First hand fact.
You can get the whole "lunch special" combined of some steak or fish etc and a bowl of soup cheaper than big mac complex.

Poors in Russia go to mcdonalds on special occasions only, it is a mini event for them.
