Waiting for the tow truck, bike got a flat

Road King has a flat, air is coming out around the stem. It's a new tire and tube, less than 2 weeks. It cost $345 and they don't last very long. 8 to 10k miles. So I called my insurance and they are sending a tow truck. Luckily it happened about 50 yards from my house. They can't get one to me for almost 3 hours, well at least it's all covered with the insurance

Sly 02-17-2015 11:56 AM

theking has returned?

The Road King never left! And that name fits, you feel like you are the king of the road on it

Johnny Cum Lately 02-17-2015 12:01 PM

Did you say "Thanks Obama!" when you got the flat?

MK Ultra 02-17-2015 12:03 PM

What year is the Road King? If it's under 12 years old and less than 75,000 miles you can get this:
Extended Service Plans | HDFS | Harley-Davidson USA

Has an optional Tire and Wheel coverage

I signed my DWG up last year, it's nice to know if I break down they'll come get me, fix my bike for a $50 deductible and if I'm on a trip reimburse me for a hotel and/or a rental.

My insurance with Foremost is full coverage and covers full tow up to $250. Zero deductible. I have two bikes now and ride a lot so I need this. My Road King is a 99, they couldn't give me the extended coverage when I bought the bike with only 17k miles on it. My new bike is an 09 and has only 2300 miles on it. It's still covered by warranty I believe, but need to check into tht

Vendzilla 02-17-2015 12:09 PM

Thanx for the link though

Ever try to load an 800 lb bike with a flat into a short bed pick up with a tool box in it? Also it's a 4x4 which means it rides higher.
That's why I got it on my insurance

Bladewire 02-17-2015 12:48 PM

FB FTW! :winkwink: Tow come yet?

Yeah, but now a day's more and more other insurance companies are including tow on their insurance

Vendzilla 02-17-2015 03:24 PM

Ok, so I picked up 2 nails during my adventure on Saturday. It tore up the inner tube.
So I was charged $65 for labor, they gave me the inner tube for free. I feel good about it, then just rode my bike home.
Was towed on a flat bed

Vendzilla 02-17-2015 03:25 PM

I did learn one thing, pushing a 800 lb bike with a flat tire on it is not easy

look around for a carpenter :2 cents: fell off his truck maybe

L-Pink 02-17-2015 03:53 PM

Usually what happens is the front tire stands the debris up from laying flat on the road for the rear tire to then run over and puncture.

also happens when you ride on the shoulder, as most nails, junk end up there:2 cents:

Like most things, this post flew right over his head.

8/10 for your post. A bit predictable, but bonus points because it needed to be said. :thumbsup

GAMEFINEST 02-17-2015 05:43 PM

hope you got it fixed.

SilentKnight 02-17-2015 06:09 PM

I've heard they make a type of kevlar tire for mountain bikes.

Surely they must have something similiar for motorcycles?

Same situation with me. took 3 people to actual load mine. Sucked!!

I needed to get my race "Map" adjusted on a cold start and didn't want to leave my bike at the gunners over night. Thats why I brought it in a truck.

Got the AAA premium option. Thats a life saver when its actually needed. I use it more for my cars than my bike.

I've been looking at these because they have full size tires and fold up under one of my work benches. They're pretty cool.

Vendzilla 02-18-2015 12:49 PM

Is anyone going to the laughlin river run? ZZTop is playing on the 24th and I have floor seats, really looking forward to this

CDSmith 02-18-2015 12:56 PM

LOL at those saying you should have pushed the bike. We're not talking about a 250 Honda minibike here people.

Too funny.

Lucky the weather out your way is not too bad eh Vend? Waiting for a tow up here right now is a whole different matter. -40C with the windchill today. Tow truck driver is likely to find you frozen solid by the time he gets to you.
