Dammit - it shut down. Why? Was such a good concept!
I only met Carlos once but he seemed like a good guy and we had the exact same taste in music!

Thanks! Well it's not something that can be described in a few words but the high fixed costs connected with running the club / house coupled with other businesses that took a hit around cca 2008 definitely contributed to the decision of not continuing with the live operation. This was the case that you had to go big, there was no other option. We also had two major deals in 2008 that felt through, either of which would enable the concept to further expand and thrive.
At that point we had a solid European presence (with German speaking countries and Italy being the top markets) mobile presence in UK, Italy, Israel, mobile was a very new market, TV licensing deals in UK, Ireland, Italy. Were very close to enter the hotel PPV market. Plus Massive mainstream media presence (at least 100 reports for mainstream press were done during my time, including NY Times, Bloomberg, Time magazine, National Geographic to name a few.
In 2007 we expanded the content introducing the Swingers Saturdays and Private couple Sundays - with real couples and swingers. Nobody believed we would get these people in front of the cams, eventually had a best selling local DVD line with this content.
This all greatly complemented the site so there was quite a decent number of type in and organic joins through SE traffic.
But what was lacking was a proper sponsor program, ad budget and a US presence (that would include also focus on English spoken content).
After we launched bigsisterlive.com - a brand new site built from the scratch that improved conversions and retention alike I had US on my mind. US presence, afterall, was one of the three points that I came with to the owner in 2005 (the other two were to rebuild the site and to get a TV presence), and one that was never finalized.
Of course the brand was absolutely not suitable for the US market from obvious reasons. So we got sexclublive.com and the last project I was pushing was a new sponsor program (SexClubCash), that would finally do justice to the concept, test launched in 2009 including two sites with private couples and swingers, with more planned to follow.
But to do the US expansion properly would also require improving the server infrastructure, upgrading the streaming, building promo tools, further investments into the product and promotion alike, I wouldn't even mind to relocate, but the timing wasn't ideal for that.
Anyway it was an experience I totally lived and breathed for four and a half years, many doors were opened and I was also able to get to build a decent contact list. An experience I wouldn't trade for anything, I guess not many college kids had the option to travel the world promoting one of the world's craziest products, and being a core part of a truly global start up. Including that you had your office in a televised brothel and saw things nobody ever seen before:)
All and all - if I could pick just one lesson - timing in business is everything!

Yes we had cases when enraged wives or girlfriends even wanted to caught them "in the act" so we let the guys out through the backdoor entrance :)
There were even buses full of Italians who wanted all to get in, or guys that wanted to spend there their vacation - like two weeks in a row!

That was probably World Telemedia 2004 or 2005, before my time (I started in Oct 2005)
But whenever there was a show in Prague (2006, 2007) I've organized an industry get together in our club.

It will set you back about $ 300 including dinner and drinks for a night. :2 cents:

That sir is correct - there's no club with more solid management, they have their own taxi drivers, there are no ladies drinks, and girls are not allowed to bother you unless you wish so, nobody will push you to anything and if you just want to have a dinner that's fine - and highly encouraged!
P.S.: Of course I'd love to do that again, just imagine teasers on the tube sites these days, I bet we would be able to convert that traffic (were converting at 1:200 with a club live feed as a promo tool in 2008). Got so many promotional ideas.
