Not where I am from. Any time I say that to the whiskey drinkers they say "when you'll get older you'll start to value whiskey". Similar thing when I say I do not like wine and prefer beer. They say - you must grow up to that.
I am in my early 30s btw.

Whats your budget? I picked up some Glenmorangie Nectar D'or and it was pretty good! Will definitely be buying that again.

MaDalton 03-24-2015 01:24 PM

So many good ones out there.. I'm partial to the Islays, Lagavulin being one of my favourite.. but I don't mind some of the Bowmore bottlings. Nicest one I've had was a private bottling of a Caol Isla, 21 year I think. Really it depends on the style you like.. not much of a Highland malt fan, I find them a bit too mellow.

What I would do is check out something like this Whisky Buying Guide, Whisky Reviews, Bourbon Reviews - Whisky Advocate search some of the reviews and see if the flavour profiles are something you appreciate in a Whisky. I generally ignore the rating they give though. Then you can cross reference the names with what your local beverage store carries.

Or you can find a local bar that does whisky tastings and it will be far more fun to "research" your next new bottle.

PornoPlopedia 03-24-2015 02:20 PM

The Oban that was referred to you is one of the finest single malts you can have if you like smooth scotch.

If you like to try something different, I would recommend that you try Jura Superstition, it has some peat and smoke to its taste that makes it quiet interesting.
Cheers !

My whisky drinking all started when MaDalton visited wroclaw...
My picks would be...

Single malt:
- The Dalmore 12 Year
- Glenfiddich 12 Year
- Lagavulin 16 Year Old (smells like you are drinking liquified wood to be honest but very tasty)

Blended
- Monkey Shoulder

Love me a good Islays...never would have thought drinking a charcoal briquette would taste good.:thumbsup

I just picked up some Maker's Mark. Nothing special but it's one of the good widely found whiskeys.

Bourbon ftw but this thread just seems to be about scotch

MediaGuy 03-24-2015 06:29 PM

I may be prejudiced but my only blend is Jack Daniels. My single malt is Isle of Skye.

God preserve...

:D

RandyRandy 03-24-2015 06:39 PM

If you want to try something a little different . . . you can't go wrong with any of the big three: Suntory, Yamazaki and Nikka. Great blends and single malts.

Laphroaig 10 letni / 40% / 0,7l - Dom Whisky - alkohole luksusowe, internetowy sklep z whisky, whiskey

Nawet nie takie drogie :) Juz kupywałem w tym sklepie, można smiało brać.

Nicholas FirstMobileCash 03-25-2015 08:40 AM

This is my kind of thread!

My absolute favourite: Dalmore - King Alexander III
https://img.thewhiskyexchange.com/540/dlmob.non3.jpg

Balvenie double cask was my go-to regular whisky (when I'm not feeling fancy). I then discovered this: Balvenie 16 yr Triple Cask
http://www.whisky-on-line.com/images.../big/AAA22.jpg

Delicious!

k0nr4d 03-25-2015 08:45 AM

I just ordered a bottle of that Laphroaig stuff. I'll report back after the weekend.

i wish you good luck - to me it tastes like licking a freshly tared road

i could have given you my bottle, i'll probably never finish it :1orglaugh

Choopa Phil 03-25-2015 09:14 AM

Have any of you guys tried the Macallan Rare Cask? Its on par with the 25 for 1/4 of the price.

heh we'll see how it is - to me ballentines tastes like paint thinner but some people love it :1orglaugh If it's terrible i'll mix it with cola or something

bns666 03-25-2015 10:09 AM

http://www.chilango.com/media/2010/11/04/la-familia.jpg

:thumbsup :thumbsup

however most of the single malts will do too

Ballentines is really something that should only be mixed with Cola :1orglaugh

but when I worked in a club someone wanted a Glenfiddich with Cola, i refused serving that

blasphemy!

JayAllan 03-25-2015 10:22 AM

My everyday scotch is Balvenie Doublewood

Really good stuff is Aberlour 18!

My favorite is Yamazaki which is getting harder and harder to find :thumbsup

I only buy Macallan, the 18 year old is nice, smooth. I tasted the 25 last year, really good but pricey.

Thats what I'm saying, get the rare cask its only a little more expensive than the 18. I believe its a 23 year? I could be mistaken.

hope you will like it. it's not taste for everyone it's more like love or hate, for me it's love.

thanks for the link, however in UK it cost close to 38 pounds in tesco on promo it was 34 pounds so 150zl is a bit fishy to me...

many goodies which are imported to us tastes way much worse than in origin country (ballantines in UK is way much better than the one from our store's here in Poland - conspiracy theory may answer this :D)

Choopa Phil 03-25-2015 10:44 AM

Laphroaig is pretty heavily peated right? Im fairly new to the scotch game myself and haven't given it a go yet.

GLENMORANGIE 25 Year Old Quarter Century

HAKUSHU Distillers Reserve
