to cdn, or to build a new server cluster
 

going from a small one site operation to multisite medium operation has me wondering... should I use a cdn to increase speeds for surfers (both of my members areas and tours)... or should I just upgrade my server cluster at my current host?

just ballpark opinions please

All depends on what kind of content are you serving to your visitors. For a tube site, you might like to try an upgrade first, since that much bandwidth from a CDN could be a bit expensive. If you have a lot of photos, maybe you could consider getting a CDN. I might be wrong, though.

Why that?

I thought that CDN was great primarily for videos. And not for photos (which are light and load fast anyway).

Please explain.
