|
Why not all schools then?

haha....exactly. Thanks Grapesoda!!!! He's an asshole even when he's trying to not be. Now that's a real, gaping, grade-A asshole. |
Most countries have the system where kids clean their classrooms (every week there is one or two people who are "on duty"). Not sure about corridors though.

Around here the "college" is free for everyone. Of course if you have some nuts and bolts loose, you can pay for it. I guess they will take your money if you are enough persistent. |
Around here the unions would make sure this never happens.

School work
I sent my son to a small private school and they had janitorial duties. 30 kids no maintenance staff. Also it was you learned by your speed. No grades. You advanced by how good you were in any particular subject. If you were 10 and could do college math, you did college math.
Damn best young child system I ever saw. |

I sure would love a generation that doesn't litter. Some states have good litter cleanup programs, some do not. The sides of highways are vastly different when going state to state. |
Some things that work in Japan might not work well in the USA because the Japanese aren't
going to use it in a racist way like targeting "inner city" schools only. |

assmonster and crockett, slapass, didn't read your post ... no need for a bunch of racist claptrap on such a nice day

Reasons:
American kids are too fat to wipe their own asses properly much less clean a classroom. Parents would complain about child labor. Bust most of all: Americans expect the government to do everything for you and they therefore come to depend on the government for everything...how else can these children learn that if they are actually shown that they can do something themselves? |
we did those jobs :1orglaugh all the classes had closets with cleaning supplies. it rotated through the class. we had to beat the rugs on friday.
|
I think its an excellent idea to a limit.
|
Haha now if you state obvious facts such as that inner city schools tend to be in poorer condition and poor learning environments than other schools.... you're racist.
Funny stuff. Perfectly rational and reasonable. |

Sounds completely legit ... I can't believe you're not on the school board... probably not much time left over after your astronaut training and CIA missions and personally training SEAL Team Six |
I hate all children equally.

Even the the obvious irony of you stereotyping 1/2 of the nations voters as you accuse me of stereotyping and implying it's not only a negative but defining trait, escapes you... but you should focus on the road and stop texting from your living room / drivers seat anyway.

When I was in 5th and 6th grade we did just this. At the end of the day everyone had to grab a wet paper towel (the classroom had a small sink in it) and wash off the top of your desk. Each week some students were assigned to other jobs like sweeping the floor, cleaning a counter top etc. I'm not sure I learned anything from it, but then again I am someone who has respect for things and wouldn't vandalize or damage the school in the first place.

This way when they graduate they have some real world work experience in their chosen field which will help them get that good job. |
That is also done here in Korea. The kids take turns cleaning the classroom at the end of the day.
|
less fun .
|
The don't clean their own houses so what makes you think they will at school?
|
Ou school system is all about learning.. There is no time for cleaning

2013/14 school year for my daughters school cost 5,806,373 to run for 331 students. So roughly 17.5k per student. |

But to the question in hand; I thought more like some study. |

Most of my property taxes do go toward the elementary school here. Charter schools are free for children to attend, but are privately funded and will (in my experience) tolerate a wholeeeee lot less bullshit. Maybe Sly knows of a study since it seems to be of interest to him. |
