I use multibit and Circle.

Mr Pheer 07-02-2015 12:27 AM

I had two places tonight tell me that I'm not me, even after sending a scan of my passport and a photo of me holding it.

clickity click 07-02-2015 12:30 AM

I had to go through all that when trying to register at exchanges, very frustrating.
Don't think I had to at Circle though. Cryptsy is the other one.

Serge Litehead 07-02-2015 01:05 AM

Circle and Coinbase should be most convenient and trustworthy out of all places you can buy bitcoins at for US and western Europe folks. I haven't used or checked out Circle, but remember a while ago they were allowing instant buy with CC's, don't remember their region/country-wise spread. Coinbase constantly expanding. Both companies got serious investments/VC's backing them.

lezinterracial 07-02-2015 02:45 AM

Localbitcoin (careful some guys in New York were robbed doing this.)

Coinbase. Transfer to another wallet to use. They are a regulated exchange. If you transfer to a casino or something they might report you.

We need to check a few things.
We need to take some additional time to review your account. We're sorry for the delay. You will receive an email from Circle when your account is ready. This process typically takes 3-5 business days.
Jesus fucking christ I've been trying all god damn night to get a fucking account somewhere. This is really starting to fucking piss me off.

And this is the major problem with bitcoin. There are not enough easy places to exchange your money without having to jump through hoops.

I agree localbitcoins is the easiest place to buy (and quickest) but you will pay a bit more. The price of convenience.

So much for the 'anonymous' crypto currency.

Thank you all for your input , going to get a coffee and will look around your suggestion.

Thanks folks :thumbsup

Localbitcoins is what I've used, it's an escrow service to meet people to buy and sell from, I've heard of at least one person in adult having their coinbase account closed without warning or explanation, so ymmv

I am looking for one that accepts CC. Anyone know of a good one for North America..

And where do you guys store it? I heard Bitcoin wallet mentioned, but is it better to store it on your HDD or online? Any good places online?

Nobody should accept credit card for bitcoin, unless they know each other very well.

And you should maintain your own full node if you plan on investing in bitcoin.

JA$ON 07-02-2015 02:46 PM

Whats your goal? do you care about everything being in your name, or traceable to your computer? If its all on the up and up, investing etc you can just use coin base.

If you are going "gangster" there are sites that put you together with people willing to buy / sell BTC for cash. You meet up in person, pay, handle the transfer. Learn to use BTC mixers etc.

edit: forgot the link: LocalBitcoins.com: Fastest and easiest way to buy and sell bitcoins (cash)

Rubbish.

I pay for my bitcoin through Circle with by credit/debit card. It's instant and I never had a problem.
Also, most people have no need to run a full node or download the blockchain. Just use Multibit or mycelium for your phone.

Mr Pheer 07-02-2015 03:39 PM

I woke up this afternoon and Circle has approved my account :)

marlboroack 07-02-2015 04:15 PM

Mr Pheer 07-03-2015 08:43 PM

Now Circle isnt accepting my payments. And of course you cant get these fuckers on the phone.

jscott 07-03-2015 08:47 PM

Coinbase for USA ACH buys

Coin.MX for creditcard buys

:thumbsup

Coinbase has been great so far for me. I've accepted payment through BitPay as well and they've been reliable.

GFED 07-03-2015 09:43 PM

what's the liquidity of a bitcoin nowadays?

GeorgeP 07-07-2015 06:39 AM

Listed price minus 1%

leines 07-23-2015 08:22 AM

If you need to buy bitcoin without registration check BTCexpress.net
That is an Bitcoin exchange office and his service allows you to buy BTC and receive them within minutes on your cryptowallet.
Actually they don't accept Credit Card. Just european alternative payments like Sofort, Giropay, SEPA credit transfer and so on.

Purchasing the bitcoin isn't supposed to be anonymous. Exchanges need to protect against fraud and money laundering just like any other financial service.
Its when you spend bitcoin that it's anonymous. Your bitcoin address is personal to you and theoretically cannot be traced back to you however all transactions are recorded in the publicly available blockchain.

Coin.MX is shut down and the owners were arrested on serious charges last week.

All as been said on this topic, just would like to add :

CryptoElite.com is the best place to learn about Capricoin

jscott 01-19-2016 05:46 PM

if you're in USA i think the best one is GEMINI now, the fee is only 0.25% per transaction compared to coinbase's 1.0%

deonbell 01-19-2016 11:00 PM

Stay away from Cryptsy. They got like 3 million stolen.

Coinbase is the only one I trust. And I move the funds to my own multibit wallet pretty fast.

leines 02-08-2016 02:06 PM

i recommend BTCexpress - Without Registration, Express and secure for european customer

Dead 02-08-2016 06:17 PM

WageCan | Bitcoin Debit Card - Connecting Virtual with the Real World

Any thoughts? Looks promising.

Relic 02-08-2016 06:31 PM

localbitcoins is the way to go, I found a Chinaman there who sells only 1-2% above spot. Everything else is a rip. I've been using localbitcoins since 2012.

2MuchMark 02-08-2016 08:55 PM

The best one is Coinbase.com. I've been using it since last November and it works really well. Super easy to buy and sell BTC.

GFED 02-08-2016 09:28 PM

I've started investing in bitcoin and gold recently these past couple months... getting ready for the recession.

I use coinbase.com and apmex.com
