ICANN wants to remove your privacy

https://www.respectourprivacy.com/

Did you send ICANN an mail telling them to go fuck themselves with this new proposal?
What are your thoughts on this?
According to the ICANN proposal all commercial sites domain whois privacy services will be no longer possible. I guess 99,99% adult sites have commercial nature. How do you feel about your name, address, phone, email being exposed (if you are using whois privacy)?
How can we protect ourselves? I don't want everyone who will type my name in Google to know that I own www.NastyHardcoreGayboytwinkPorn.com. :( Should we start put bullshit info to whois data?

Seems kinda ironic that you have your email, telephone number, Skype, and name right in your signature in a public forum...

Those are not my details. (But someone else with who I've got a deal to promote his site.)

My details are only icq and email (email for gfy forum purpose only) in my avatar in a form of image file so that search engines can't index it.

Yes, I got no other address I can supply. I have always tried to be legit and I was providing true info as that's what the law requires. (Though I already regretted it after moniker had problems with keeping their privacy services up and exposed my info for a week or two - enough to be scanned by some rogue whois database sites that live from extortion and blackmailing people who don't want this info to be exposed)

What do you put as your street address and name to whois data?

If you are running a legit business then you should not worry about privacy! Real business mean real detail!

dba/doing business as and p.o. box

I will just lie about it like I do everything else in my life.

signupdamnit 07-24-2015 01:33 PM

Although there are other reasons to stop this such as the possibility of them closing the loopholes for now all you need to do is get a post office box (about $60 a year) and a Google Voice forwarding number (free), Email of course is easy. Then for the name put in something like "DNS Admin" or "Domain Admin". Problem largely solved.

What would suck is if they started verifying the name and street address like Paxum does by requiring all these IDs. Then this would have to be published.

Best-In-BC 07-24-2015 01:41 PM

Why does the world need to see that ? advencolly it will just be domain holding companies

my thoughts exactly.

I am sorry, but I refuse to do any business with any company that I cannot contact. If you feel the need to hide your identity why would I want to spend money with you?

I wouldn't.

It is about time is my opinion.

A very weird approach IMHO. We are working in the Internet and a whole our business is virtual. We do provide virtual services and sell virtual goods via virtual payment systems. Thus I don't really care if a person signs the emails with a real or fake name until his/her payments are valid. And I don't need a phone number or a physical address to contact that person. I live in 21st century, so I prefer email over pigeons :2 cents:

so you mean, you go and check whois info before doing biz ?

why not ask contact info to the person you are dealing with directly and call him/her to verify the details.

whois info is for world and there are shitloads of whois scrapers sites out there .

i am not a fraud but i dont want interacialgangbangporno.com to show in google when someone searches for my name/email/phone.

just saying.

edit: i dont own interacialgangbangporno.com

You are the one who lives in the 3rd world country, who still use pigeons and fax for mailing, who use imperial units, who still have no direct voting, who still have segregation etc. We, who live in the 1st world use email for about 20 years. You are an old man, so that doesn't surprise me. The world has changed during the past 100 years ;)

RummyBoy 07-29-2015 10:17 AM

PO BOX is just out of fashion these days........

anyone recommend a service with a respectable, good cheap, RELIABLE virtual office service in a decent country?

Yes, in Russia you have direct voting. In other words, your vote goes DIRECTLY into the trash bin :D
