Who the hell am I and why should you give a shit?

I am a 30-something dude living about 2 hours north of Miami on the beaches of Florida. Until now I have made a very decent living running my own "legit" web development firm. Our work includes design, development, SEO, affiliate programs, social media- all the normal shit that makes the web go round. My team does video editing, photography, Photoshop, After Effects, web apps, phone apps, etc. etc. If you can think of it, odds are we've already done something similar for one of our "legit" clients. My own speciality is WordPress; plugins, themes, and developing full-on custom webware on top of the standard SEO-friendly WP stuff.

Now why would a guy who is already making a decent living be trying to break-in to the adult business?

I have recently entered what I have to assume is my mid-life crisis. And as it turns out, my wife and I are total kinksters. Not only is she a total freak, she's also a photographer, and she is interested in producing content of her own.

Sounds like fun, right?

Well, from what I can tell, producing some high-quality (high-concept) content (the stuff she envisions) is going to be more expensive than our typical weekend rendezvous. My long-term goal is not to "make it rich in porn", but rather, try to break-even, and find an audience that enjoys the same disgusting kinks my wife and I do. :pimp

So why am I here?

As you can tell, I am as green as a one-dollar bill. I have plenty of experience regarding web tech and web media, but none regarding this industry, how it works, how to monetize, how to build an audience here, etc.

So I have some good news, and some bad news:

The good news is: I'm not here looking for paying work.

The bad news is: You couldn't afford my hourly rate anyway.

I'm here to find a mentor. I'm here to volunteer my services and capabilities and experience in exchange for yours. I want to find the people who can help me connect to the people I need to connect with. I want to find the people who can help me make these filthy fantasies a reality. I don't expect to earn a penny in profit from this, I just want to mitigate my costs, and learn more about the biz from an insider's perspective.

I think you are off to a great start, as you'll produce content that you have a passion for, and clearly you'll intelligent and will be able to make a quality website too. Now you just need the right talent and camerawork. ;)

Maybe you should get your feet wet by selling clips on clips4sale or hotmovies rather than opening a full-blown paysite right away, they have big established fanbases for many fetishes and kinks it seems.

Think of a brand name beforehand though, register the domain, and watermark your videos with it. Have the domain redirect to the clips store for now.
