Northern California is on fire

There are two large fires in Northern California, burning pretty bad. Four hundred houses have been destroyed.

This picture was taken of downtown Middletown, California, just a few days ago when the fires broke out. If I understand correctly, Middletown no longer exists - all burned down to the ground. Schools, businesses, houses, all gone - 1300 people now homeless.

Just like Weed a few years ago.

I live about two hours drive time from one of the fires. I took this picture on Thursday afternoon as our clouds turned dark.

Half an hour later I took this picture...

And this is how our skies have been for the past four or five days now. Haven't seen the sun since then.

Stay safe, man. Make sure to take selfies with the flames prefferably with your knockoff Ray Bans in front of random Mom & Pop pizza joints. :2 cents: This would be Facebook Gold

Thanks for the updates.

Dang, anyone know the source of it yet? I hope it was weed farms and everyone is getting comfortably high. :P

But seriously, be safe! We're past our burning season here in SoCal and it's always scary. Best wishes to everyone there.

Most likely. I remember when I was in high school, there were major fires in Montana/Wyoming area, they were massive. We had fallout from that in Eastern Iowa.

Seriously if you have ever been to northern California you would know that it's no great loss really.

Just natures way of taking out the trash.

dyna mo 09-14-2015 04:11 PM

little bit of trivia: those giant sequoia trees up there where the fire is? the tallest trees in the world? they can get to those heights because they live long time. they live long time because they are naturally fire-resistant. pretty sweet right? smart tree.

Indeed they are...one of natures many wonders! :thumbsup

When I was referring to taking out the trash I was of course, referring to the human inhabitants who have destroyed much of the natural beauty with "homes"...
