Do you have patience for obese people?

Serious question.

I see 300-400+ lb. people daily. They actually anger me by seeing them. Is this normal?

I actually want to beat them with a length of rubber hose and watch them squirm.

Why not eat like a normal human being? Fat women and guys on carts.

Sad.

CurrentlySober 09-14-2015 11:46 AM

Compared to me, thats pretty slim... :(

I'm actually more confused than angry. Like... what needs to be done to get to that weight? I feel like I eat a lot, and I'm nowhere near this.

But, to each his own. If the person is happy being huge and risking their health at this weight, so be it.

If you're that big and complain about being fat, fucking work out and eat better. Nobody likes a whiner. :2 cents:

Unless there's a medical issue they can't control, they disgust me in general. Mostly because of the attitude they have towards their body.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who have the same feelings towards mouth breathers in general. who over populate most gyms.

kane 09-14-2015 02:44 PM

Why would you give a fuck?

I can see if a fat person was causing you problems like you had to sit next to them on a plane or something and it made your trip uncomfortable, but why would you bother wasting part of you life hating someone you don't even know simply because of how they look or how they choose to live their life?

The Vietnamese once digged tunnels in the soil that were so tiny Americans could not follow. Just be tiny and you win a war.

SBJ 09-14-2015 03:18 PM

fat people don't bother me other then when I see them at wally world on those carts being impatient assholes. I mean do they have to shop daily cause god knows they can't fit enough food in those electric cart baskets.

I have a aunt that married a guy that was every bit of 500lbs. He is tall like 6'4" like me. He in the last few years lost a TON of weight and said he is 20lbs away from his goal to be 250lbs. I'm super proud of the guy for finding a way to lose the weight he has.

I say that we use them to help solve the heating problem this winter.

With winters becoming more severe with each passing year due to global warming I say that we round up anyone who has over 47% body...kill them (anal electrocution so they go out with a bang) and then melt them down and turn the blubber into heating fuel. :thumbsup

How do you distinguish the overweight people who have legitimate medical issues...from the ones that are just sloth-ish overeaters?

Do you approach them and ask?

I tend to ignore all people, the only ones that bother me(fat or not) are the ones that stink. I don't fat shame do to the fact that there are ones out there with legitimate medical conditions!

That's about what 1%. I live near a small rural town of about 10k people, there is just 1 massively fat woman in the whole town.
If I go to the nearest mall 30km away, 1 in 100 is obese. They live in the all you can eat buffet.

Unhealthy food should carry additional taxes like tobacco and alcohol.

Still, who cares? People really think their taxes would go down? That they'd somehow be better off financially even to the tune of 1 cent? Of all the things in the world to actually get riled over, obese people in general (as kane said, unless directly causing you discomfort on a plane, in a queue, etc - just on plain sight according to the OP) has to be way down there with gingers and people wearing shoes you don't personally like :2 cents:

Are you equally angry at people with drug and alcohol problems or people who are in jail or people who have done stupid things that caused themselves to be badly injured and no longer able to work?

Sorry, where did I say I was angry?

Alcohol is highly taxed, legal drugs are aswell.

There will always be a % of society who has a problem with drink/drugs or just idiots who injure themselves doing something stupid,
but with obesity rates soaring, it's going to cause massive problems.

Being badly injured is a shit load different to eating 10lb of icecream a day.

Taxes wont go down, but the service should improve.
You have kids who cant have an op because it costs $100k, then they have to spend $40k knocking down a wall and getting a crane to lift some 40 stone guy/girl out of their house cause their parents have been feeding them on bargain buckets.
Then because they are so fat, they get disability and the parents get paid as their carer. So just because that one person couldn't say no to cake, they cost $200k a year in benefits and medical costs.

If you're a smackhead, you dont get a carer, and if someone brings you drugs, they are prosecuted.

People are born ginger, they are not born obese.

Jel 09-15-2015 03:55 AM

this is a thread about hating though, not those points you bring up about people not being born obese (for the most part). Those 200k savings on benefits don't go to some kid, they go on shit like wars and crap like that, or even if they *do* filter through, it'll be to another group that a bunch of people 'hate'. Life is diverse, body types are diverse, personal choice is diverse... to start hating on a bunch of people just becase someone doesn't like their look, choices, and so on = you get where we are today... the gov't stepping in on just about everything, to ensure some kind of utopia where everyone is fit and healthy, don't partake in anything that could cause the smallest ounce of harm to themselves, and place more restrictions on personal freedom/choice. Life ain't perfect, and trying to get everyone else to fit in to your (anyone's) personal view of what is right or wrong is a shit ROI.

Those kids still won't get an op, regardless of how many fat people there are, because the governments are shite... if anywhere, that's where any hatred should go (not you personally, the topic of this thread :thumbsup ) :)

edit: sorry, anger not hate

Jel 09-15-2015 03:56 AM

I guess I just assumed you were angry based on the feel of the thread, but it looks more like you aren't angry at the people in general, but instead you are worried about what they could eventually do to society.

I am mostly worried about the kids. I grew up in an era where we were told to eat all our food and while we might know that too many sweets were bad for you, we ate terribly (greasy meat with bread and potatoes as an example) and it was considered a balanced diet. It was the 1970's and few people knew better. Now the information is readily available so anyone can easily find out how to eat a more healthy diet.

That all said, it is mental thing. Being very overweight is not really any different than being a drunk or a drug addict and a person needs to figure that out before they can lose weight. What amazes me is when you see overweight parents with overweight kids. The parents have to know what their lives are like being overweight and you would think they wouldn't want that for their kids, but it seems like many of them just don't care.

The cost to taxpayers of people having bad lifestyles, is growing by the day.

Life Expectancy in the UK: England's richest people 'live eight years longer than the country's poorest' - Health News - Health & Families - The Independent

Costing the UK £47 billion a year, which will grow.

Costing the US £147 billion a year, which HAS grown.

This means others, like pensioners, cancer sufferers, invalids through no fault of their own. Get less.

Those images of people in motorised wheelchairs is interesting. Paid for by the user or family. Or paid for by tax payers?

65, registered invalid, 6 ft tall and I hit 84 kilos (184 pounds) this week. So drinking water instead of juice, cutting out butter, potatoes, fried food and trying to walk a little more. My weight will fall.

It only takes a little bit of will power.

Phoenix 09-15-2015 04:33 AM

I rarely see obese people here but it is on the rise for sure. They are openly ostracized here. I am 95kgs, So I do need to lose a few kgs. Ideally if i was 90kgs my stomach would be perfectly flat or close enough.
Anyway, some people usually when they are drunk will come up to me and tell me I am fat.
At first I was shocked, now that I speak some Korean I point at their crotch if it is a guy and tell them in Korean that they have a small cock. Another thing I will say is that I am gaining weight because their wife makes me sandwiches.

Anyway, I just use it as fuel to keep on my eating plan and hitting the gym running etc.

No everyone just wants to hate on the fat fucking slobs..

Fuck the racist and judgemental people here! you do know that the bbw niche is one that makes a shit load of money right.. oh well i'm drunk but i'm so glad i don't have this issues that so many here have that they feel the need to judge people based on the skin color or size of thier gut..

There is no two way about it - you are a horrible person.

A few years ago I was "obese". I am 5'11" and came in at 255 lbs. I was a huge. I had a full time job that required me to be in the office 10-12 hours a day, plus more work at home after hours, and what little time was left was devoted to my family. When weekends came it was youth sports, football games, and horrible stadium food. Fast food was constant - no time for much else - and during the weekends I wanted to eat a nice meal, not eat like a little bird and have a salad.

No problem, just go to the gym, right? Right. So I went to the gym, an hour every morning, for a year straight. Easy. Yet no matter what I did I continued to gain weight.

It was Phoenix Forum 2014 when I decided I had had enough. I changed nearly everything about my life. I got up two hours earlier every morning and went running, played basketball, and starting biking. I radically changed my diet and the rest of my lifestyle - I even traded in my Jaguar for Jeep because I wanted to do "go places and do things"; Anything to avoid sitting on the couch watching television.

A year and a half later I've lost fifty pounds - This morning I was 205 lbs, a new low weight for me. It's 8:30am PST as I write this; I've already gone running, shot hoops, and gone for a fifteen mile bike ride, and I will ride another fifteen miles tonight. My goal is to be under 200 lbs by the end of the year (very modest goal), and eventually I want to be 170 / 180 lbs.

You had better pray that this never happens to you.

it won't happen if people take care of themselves. i don't buy the idea that people say they don't have time to eat decently. it doesn't take any longer than 20-30 minutes to make a good meal at home. figure in the time it takes to drive to a fast food place, drive back, etc its almost the same. i've been working at a desk for over 15 years now and never got overweight. i don't even workout much, if at all most of the time. even that i find myself saying i don't have time but i really do, i just don't want to take the time to do it.

A healthy sandwich takes five minutes to make. Someone will pipe in that a sandwich is not healthy, a sandwich is perfectly fine for most people and absolutely better than alternatives.

I'm going to have the following for lunch: spinach tortilla wrap, black forest ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, tomato slice, baby spinach

Will take about five minutes to make. Somewhere around 400-500 calories.

crockett 09-15-2015 09:21 AM

I think it's pretty sad people are that overweight, but long as they aren't effecting me, then fuck them.. I think it looks disgusting but to each their own and I think it's a form of child abuse when parents over feed their kids.. But again as long as it doesn't effect me, I mean if people want to ruin their own lives then fuck em..

orange_crush 09-15-2015 09:23 AM

The weight problem here in Atlanta is unbelievable!! We've got a lot of migration from the poorest parts of the country, i.e. New Orleans and Detroit. On the other hand, we have the most beautiful women I've ever seen... Particularly, black women!

Honestly, it doesn't even have to be healthy.. You don't have to eat "healthy" to stay in shape or not be fat.. Sure it helps, but it's fucking exercise that keeps you fit..

But here is what you are missing.... Some of us don't have half an hour to prepare a single meal.

When I first moved here, I left the house at 7:30am in the morning (Keep in mind that not only did I have to get myself ready but also had to get my kid ready, and also had started in on answering emails from home) and then wouldn't get home until 7pm or 8pm, after which I had to deal with my kid's sports routine, homework, playtime, and then yet more work from home. My days started at 5am and ran until 11pm when I didn't have time to watch TV no less prepare a decent meal.

It's not a matter of "fifteen minutes to the fast food place". Between leaving work and going to see my kid I don't have time to stop home and spent half an hour cooking - It's fast food on the go.

A lot has changed in the past few years. My kid is older now, and my wife tends to handle our kid's after school activities. I no longer work in an office for 10-12 hours a day, and work from home, so I have a lot more flexibility in my working hours. I work a minimum of 9-5, but I spend a lot more time exercising in both the morning and nights. Also, fast food is completely gone from my diet now, as is soda (although I just had a very rare Red Bull this morning).

I'm not defending myself or anyone who is over weight. My priorities at the time was, in order, my kid and then my work. My health and my weight wasn't even on the list of priorities; I was healthy and my weight wasn't an issue. You just get caught up in routine that is unhealthy and then middle age slaps you in the face and by the time you discover you need to make changes it's already an uphill battle.
