Season 1 episode 1

Just let them be happy - FFS...

dyna mo 09-22-2015 10:15 AM

If "them" get unhappy on account of a dyna mo thread, then "them" were never happy to begin with.

You mean the writers who had a character gain 100 IQ points and become a successful pharmaceutical rep making big bucks just because she cut her hair and became average looking?

Sly 09-22-2015 10:29 AM

Oh sweet, another intellectual thread.

It's probably my favorite show, sitcom anyway, and yeah, that whole thing definitely changed the show. She was the oddball out of the group and made it interesting. Now she looks average, makes great money, and is successful... yet the last seven years of the show she has not shown one glimpse of having success traits.

My guess is she made them do it when they had their last contract dispute.

I'm just happy I got to see her anus in the fappening. At least I think it was her anus. Folders might have been mislabeled.

EddyTheDog 09-22-2015 10:37 AM

You guys do realise this is a comedy and not a documentary about a GFYer who got lucky?..

crap, had no idea. i thought the laff trak was real.

dyna mo 09-22-2015 10:45 AM

starting off this final season with a wedding? come on, it's like melrose place meets general hospital.

About 5 years ago when it became a couples show. Howard and Raj's antics as the b story was always entertaining. If I laugh once an episode the past few years, that is a win.

It is actually, it's filmed before a studio audience.

I was in an audience in 2011.

i know it's filmed live.

they still supplement the show with the laugh track.

Then why do they mic over the audience ?

that's kinda what i'm figuring to. you know the finale will be sheldon and amy farrah fowler tying the knot. that's why they had to start this season with the penny/leonard wedding.

the same reason why seinfeld did, yet added/overdubbed the laugh track.

because that's how tv shows get made.

seinfeld was exponentially more funny than bb yet they used the laugh track extensively, in spite of mic;ing the audience.

Fair enough.

I'll say one thing though, watching the show being made from in the audience was outrageously funny and great entertainment.

Same reason music producers will use an acoustic and electronic kick together. They complement each other and fill gaps.

Keep in mind that actors make mistakes during tapings, the fifth time the audience laughs is not going to be near as good as the first time, yet we always hear a good laughing routine.

oh, i'm with you. it's a blast. the last one i went to was "let's make a deal". super fun. i've been trying to score tickets to fallon for 4 months now.

Sheldon's comment (to Amy)in last night's preview of the next episode cracked me up.

Somethin' about his left hand can do everything for him.

It is a giant circle jerk of a show but I still find it funny.

fucking feminism. fucking, fucking feminism.

From a broke ditzy blond failing actress everyone wanted to bang, to a short haired highest paid profession character on the show.

The Porn Nerd 09-22-2015 02:28 PM

I think the Penny makeover happened when Kelly Cuoco got married.

Sitcoms always make the mistake of thinking "time" also happens on their show. Meaning, if seven years has passed in "real time" sitcoms think that same seven years has happened on their show. So they think characters have to "grow". Penny can't stay a waitress forever! Uh, yes she can and should have you fucking idiots. LOL

That was in the preview for next weeks when he does a "Fun with Flags" segment without her.

To my knowledge, this episode was the first to mention that Sheldon has a brother, so I think we'll be seeing him sometime this season.

That's what's weird for me. I own every season of it streaming on amazon, watched every episode many times and am tuning in this final season. But I recently started thinking why do I like this show, do I like this show?

I can watch the first 3 season repeats quite easily. The rest, I usually change the channel after a couple min, if at all.

The wife buys every season as a box set - she's hardcore obsessive. :1orglaugh

I did not get the appeal of that show. And I like various sitcoms from the dumb ones to the "intellectual" ones. This particular one just did nothing to me at all.

i can relate. was watching the episode where howard and rajesh feel each other's titties, and i realized, that's not funny anymore. was it even funny the first time? the 2nd time? is it still funny and i'm just over it? i don't know anymore! :1orglaugh this show.
