Pretty sad, really.

People now spend so much energy taking narcissistic photos that they forget to enjoy the moment.

I'm going to a deadmau5 concert this weekend. I asked to borrow a friend's camera. He said he could provide a selfie stick as well to record the last part of the show. I don't want to record the last part of the show. I want to enjoy the last part of the show.

Less pictures. More enjoyment.

Pretty much sums up life these days. The next time you go into a restaurant, take a minute to see how many people are taking photos of their drinks, food, selfies, waitresses/waiters, bartenders, and also a table full of people with each of them individually buried in their phones. There is a serious disconnect in society, and it's only going to get worse.

Depressing. Very depressing indeed.

And yes don't get me started on the restaurant thing either...

Hey Rob,
There is a story behind this that helps validate their actions. Let me preface by saying I am a season ticket holder at this ballpark. These girls were attending the game in the first place because the D-Backs offered a special $5.00 promotion for college students. They were seated in the rafters (at Chase Field that is very high up) Secondly, the big scoreboard had a message asking for photos to be sent to a D-Backs twitter account. That is what started all the selfies. D-Backs marketing should get a raise, look at all the publicity they got out of this. Our announcers could have done a better job having fun with it. I did think it was funny that we got a hit and they hadn't a clue :)

It is not exactly one or the other though. I am a big fan of making the event more about you and your friends then about some band/singer/dj/show. It is the old oligarchy or democracy. If we are all celebs then the culture of celebrity dies.

Which also means you enjoy, have fun and get rowdy with friends instead of taking pictures with moron sticks :)
