What do You think About Facebook Lies and Misinformation?

Of course it's not just Facebook, many other websites equally churn out the same junk.

Things like:

Naming and shaming before found guilty or arrested or even questioned.
Reposting Clips that are 10 years old like it happened yeasterday.
Telling people to be aware of clearly fake viruses / phishing that they have seen on their wall.

Personally I hate it, why do people insist in reposting this shit without bothering to check acts?

People can't spell "facts" - nevermind checking to see if they're factual. :1orglaugh

Social networks are a breeding ground for herd mentality.

If you think about it hard enough, this is a TRAFFIC GENERATION OPPORTUNITY :)

Join a few FB groups and you'll quickly see how STUPIDITY and GULLIBILITY on FB translates to CLICKS

Now, to make sure those CLICKS convert, you have to FINE TUNE your content messaging.

Can't go FULL NIGERIAN PRINCE on your audience LOLZ

I thought he was getting all Biblical so I ran and looked up Acts in the New Testament.
Nothing about Facebook in there tho.

That's awesome, dude.

But Acts does talk quite a bit about community and identity within a larger community. :winkwink:

This happens all the time.

One of the things I've noticed is that if it is anything political, people will always have an opinion along party lines. The other day someone posted about unemployment hitting 5% and a Republican friend quickly said "But what about those who are not on unemployment". (Same dumb discussion we have here on GFY.)

Hate that. I've unfriended friends for this.

I hate this most of all. One of the things GFY has taught me is to spend a few minutes researching something before posting it, and the same should apply on Facebook or any other medium. Just because you got an email the scares you doesn't mean you can or should repost it without verifying it. My mother-in-law used to do this, constantly, and every time I would call her out on it. Thankfully she got the hint.
