Is it just me or does commission Junction suck?

Anyone have any good alternatives?

It does suck and finding alternatives is hard, usually I find that smaller individual programs are better like southsmoke.com

Affiliate future is like CJ but slightly better.

Rob 11-24-2015 07:43 AM

CJ used to be an amazing program up until about two years ago. One day, I received a new terms and conditions email, I log in and all the programs I was a member had dropped me. They switched to "manually approving all advertisers" - even though I had sent thousands of visits to their site in the past. A lot of advertisers I had used for years, now wouldn't approve me. I started pulling links...had to. Now it's almost impossible to get approved. You find something you want to push, click to join, and then you're waiting months to get approved, and that's if you're even approved.

The shitty part? There really isn't an alternative I can think of that matches what CJ does. There's Clickbank, but their service offers are very niche.

Emil 11-24-2015 07:45 AM

The problem is to find sites that convert, there's so much trash there. The sames goes with LinkConnector.com and ShareASale.com .
ClickBank is the most useless shit I've ever sent traffic to.

baddog 11-24-2015 09:50 AM

The affiliate model just isn't the same any more

brassmonkey 11-24-2015 09:54 AM

they are are good for my sites

Pornwolf 11-24-2015 11:43 AM

It's amazing. It has the best selection of advertisers yet it still sucks donkey balls. I'd rather send traffic to an Adsense arbitrage page than work with them.

kacy 11-24-2015 12:16 PM

It also gone down hill on the merchant end too. We dropped it. Most all orders are fraudulent from affiliates, for web hosting anyway.

Yes, that's been my experience

I remember the time when there was several big players (CJ, TradeDoubler and a few others).
I don't really know what happened but they did take a beating.

You might still want to check these ones for alternatives (in the US):
Connect and grow with Tradedoubler performance marketing
Webgains | Performance marketing specialists

:thumbsup

I did sell a $6000 couch for Thrive once, but their program went away, just like every other one that I used to make decent money with minus Ugg Australia which is still doing great, but low commission.. :/

Beat me to it. I've been an Amazon affiliate for over 10 years, and they're on point when it comes to payments. Their payouts seem low at first, but once you start generating sales, it's easy money. They used to offer a 30 day cookie, I haven't really checked what they offer now. All of my affiliate sites through Amazon have been on autopilot for years, and they are paying out well. :thumbsup

Hey, hey...i just signed up for Amazon and they approved me...turned me down years ago. It's off to the races I suppose.

Actually, when I started using them they didn't suck at all. I became a member in 2004, and the program treated me very well. I had a credit repair website that was bringing in a steady $5k a month just on CJ alone, and they never missed a payment. But around 2011 advertisers started changing their terms on a regular basis. Then in late 2013, they got really strict about who they accepted, and I lost almost all of my advertisers in the span of a month. I had to jump through hoops to keep Lexington Law. I recently went there to check them out, and I applied for at least 20 programs. Only one has approved me, 1-800-JUNK, and the funny part, I never even applied for them.

They were really good back in the days, now they're pretty worthless.

Ribbet Hog 11-24-2015 11:20 PM

I used cj all the way back in 2000... A change back then was they changed to all sells and no more click thru.. no idea now a days... ill sign under someone on it if they are cool if they have refferals someone post the link so i can see if my way old account is still open....

Horatio Caine 11-24-2015 11:48 PM

Bit too late sports. By the time you get them adds up traffic is gone.
I had one site, cant remember what or who it was for. I got it up early and CNN picked it. Next thing I know my webhost went boom. :disgust:1orglaugh

I hate to see comments like this one... Simply because I've just started using CJ. Hopefully, it will not suck. :1orglaugh

I'm not saying they suck. They have a ton of good publishers. Just the interface sucks and the support is non-existant

Shadexpwn 11-26-2015 09:49 AM

Looks like the I rectory phase has died off a bit...

I normally just use them as a way to find advertising programs directly.

ErectMedia 11-28-2015 09:43 PM

I've made PPC money with Adsense for about 11 years now, few others I've made sales with...

CJ (very strong on advertisers, just don't let your account go dormant under payment threshold or they will close it and snatch your dough so run it till ya break payout minimum, added a feature where you can create your own ad spot in the market and advertisers can buy at a set price which is kinda cool even though I haven't tried that yet)

LinkShare (not as strong on advertisers even though older, do like that you can add a bunch of advertisers and insert one code and all your ads automatically rotate through the spot to keep it fresh)

ShareASale (not as strong on advertisers as well, have made significant sales)

Used Ebay and Amazon back when the mini site craze was going on and made some dough, don't currently use them though. Mainly just using Adsense, CJ and direct buys at the moment to fill my advertising spots.

I've been meaning to check out Ebay. It seems Amazon has become a lot more affiliate friendly as of late.
