Conor McGregor knocked out champion Jose Aldo last night in :13 seconds. And he knocked the shit out of him, too. I wish I could make millions of dollars working only :13 seconds! :1orglaugh :thumbsup

Yah that was crazy. I felt bad for Aldo after. Seeing a grown man cry really hurts my heart, or makes me want to throat punch him. This one hurt.

My man Weidman took a brutal 20 seconds in that 3rd round, damn. His poor face.

TheSquealer 12-13-2015 09:59 AM

Connor isn't that good. He's good but he does not have world champion skills, only a world champion mouth and a great ability for hyping himself up. He has only fought one good fighter so far and that guy, Mendes was beating the shit out of him until he gassed out and got caught. McGregor came away bloodied and beaten. Aldo is a much better fighter than McGregor by far in terms of skill and technique.

And Weidman? Wow. That was just painful to watch. Damn.

i knew the fight was rigged before it even started. Aldos head was down in shame before the match started. Right after Connor wins they show him on the cover of his new video game.

To be fair you can only fight what is in front of you and knocking out a undefeated UFC world champion in a record breaking 13 seconds is freaking impressive!

I agree with you about his skill set, his ground game is very poor compared to most fighters in his division. I doubt it'll matter much because like Ronda Rousey this hype train is off into the stratosphere now!

Potentially Frankie Edgar Vs McGregor next, that should be an entertaining fight!

Herb Dean should have stopped that fight in the previous round :Oh crap

TheSquealer 12-13-2015 02:18 PM

I was surprised Herb didn't stop it but I think he's in a tough spot when it's a title fight between two guys who can give and take a lot of damage.

For McGregor... it was one punch. That's not a pattern of success. That's not the same as successfully picking someone apart for 3 rounds and then knocking them out. Like Dillashaw/Barao for example where a "world class striker" and "elite sniper" was suddenly made to look like a beginner and punished for 5 rounds - twice. Impressive to me would be doing it 9 out of 10 times. I agree with Rogan and think McGregor really got into his head. I expected Aldo to hang back and blast his legs to take away his movement - which isn't hard when someone has such a wide stance and when you have a world class low kick, but instead he ran right into him, was sloppy and tried to knock him out and got caught.

Cool spoilers man! :Oh crap

CurrentlySober 12-13-2015 02:32 PM

Oh yeah, sure... When Conor McGregor finishes in 13 seconds its called an 'Historic Moment'...

But when I do the same its called 'Premature'... :(

Thanks man, that's really given me a different perspective on the fight. Perhaps surprised is a better word to use because I did not see the fight ending in the first round

I wish you could be champion working only 13 seconds. Unfortunately working in the cage is less than 1% of all your working time :)

My husband says the same thing you say. He thinks everything was rigged. And now Aldo gets no rematch?

a mind fuck to consider is that Conner wasn't consciously aware of throwing the punch until well after well after Aldo was unconscious. among the many illusions we live in, one is that we are experiencing the world in real time. we aren't. conscious awareness lags 400ms or so behind the event. the process of executing a motor movement such as that in a fight means your brain first identifies the stimulus (Aldo initiating the punch, the velocity, angle, anticipated point of impact etc), it then selects the response (to block, slip, move, counter etc etc etc) and then lastly programs and executes the reaction. this takes a great deal of time. training in anything makes this process faster. better timed and automatic and eventually, below conscious awareness (once a skill is fully learned with enough repetition).

Or... they had both covers already designed, like having world series/superbowl/stanley cup winning hats/jerseys/posters prepared before the final game. :winkwink:

Not rigged, Aldo got caught and will probably dismantle him in a rematch.

Or move up to lightweight.

Or retire :Oh crap

Lykos 12-14-2015 04:30 AM

That was fast :)

GLMBV 12-14-2015 04:48 AM

McGregor is the man, he beat a guy that was champion for 10 years in just 13 seconds. And he told Aldo he's gonna get caught with that left and he will go down and it happened.. He had some fun with mendes and didn't knock him out at once, but caught some punches. Still difference in skills was obvious.

I think its clear the level of his power, speed, timing and technique are way above the others..

He's gonna be champ for a while in this weight class
