Trump is just communicating with his supporters however mirroring their views. I don't doubt Trump's cunning intelligence -- but he is appealing to the *dark side*

I agree but the article also looks at prepared speeches and also how he rates in regards to his own republican peers. 4th grade is pretty shockingly bad.

Using the op's 2nd grade logic, Ted Cruz is the better choice then.

i'm curious, when did Danny Westneat, columnist for the Seattle Times become the "Official" Donald Trump debate reading level grader?

i'm skipping the obvious question- Since when did oral debate answers get graded for readability? nevertheless.

Nah he just ran the speeches through the Readability-Score.com website and make an article around it.

Even after becoming president Obama felt the need to for a teleprompter while speaking to elementary school kids, and yet feel insulted by Reagans speeches?

Donald Hump says what ever he wants and his followers believe it without question. It's freaking odd.

Take the example quoted in the article:

“If you look at what’s going on, we have the highest taxes anywhere in the world. We pay more business tax, we pay more personal tax. We have the highest taxes in the world. It’s shutting off our economy. It’s shutting off our country … Yes, we will do my tax plan, and it will be great.”

He makes a statement that is obviously a complete lie, and then tells us about a plan that he hasn't told us anything about... He promises it will be "great" but hasn't told us anything about it. He hasn't told us anything about any of his plans. Donald Mump is going to "make America great again" and he is going to "beat China" but.... Hasn't told us any of his plans. None of them.

He is running on a platform of "I have a plan but I am not going to tell you what it is".

Robbie 02-28-2016 10:41 AM

I don't buy your liberal/conservative label bullshit either. You sound like you are parroting that bag of shit Rush Limbaugh.

Quote:

A bigot is aware of their prejudices and defends them. The bigot is not necessarily crazy, nor illogical, nor does the bigot necessarily expect anyone to think as they do. The bigot has opinions and defends their opinions as their own. As such, when you approach or confront the bigot they are likely to respond, "I am not racist". They might be attempting to say "I am not a Racist", meaning that they don't try to convince others - that they are not ideologues. That fact does not change the content of their opinions, which are racist. If you are a racial bigot, it is because you have internalized and accepted racist ideas. A bigot in this sense is quite obviously racist. That doesn't necessarily make them dangerous as a person, but certainly destructive as a citizen. It is not the personality of the bigot with which the race man should concern himself, rather his attachment to foul ideas. Often, bigots are simply enamored of holding strongly to controversial ideas without much regard to the logical consequences of such ideas. They often defend their ideas on the matter of race by denying that they have any power to effect change or hurt anyone.

Trump... the retard thats beating Hillary, who polls consistently show that only about 10-12% of her base feel she can be trusted on any level at all... and her only competition is a full blown socialist like looks like a Star Wars Sith Lord with one foot in the grave. Says a lot about Democrats.

I was completely unaware Trump had a tax plan, although in all fairness I don't follow Trump or listen to his speeches.

Let's see... You are correct. Donald Crump does in fact have a tax plan. Sounds great. He is going to reduce taxes all across the board, but mostly for the rich. Surprise! It could decrease our national public debt by $9 trillion, but only if it's offset by large spending cuts. It's gonna be pretty hard to make America great again and make our military strong again AND build a fence to keep those rapists out... And in the end, it might increase our national debt by (gasp!) 80% by 2036.

http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/Uploa...s-tax-plan.pdf

#winning.

How is he going to beat China? How is he going to build a fence? Who will pay for that fence? (Mexico isn't going to pay for it!) How is he going to create more jobs? Stimulate the economy?

Here is his plan to beat China: U.S.-China Trade Reform | Donald J Trump for President

In short, he is going to....
1) Call them names. (Childish)
2) Complain about intellectual property laws (More childish)
3) Revive "American manufacturing" (really, the guy who uses undocumented workers to build buildings it going to revive American manufacturing?)
4) Strengthen our negotiation position by lowing taxes and bolstering the US military in the China Seas (Because, you know, we aren't already fucking with China and their island building for the pasty year...)

This isn't a policy plan, this is something written by an eighth grader.

So what?

The sales copy I write for clients who make THOUSANDS of dollars a month off single pages are written to appeal to people with 4th grade READING AND COMPREHENSION LEVELS. This means even PHD holders get hooked.

It's not the FORM that matters... it's the SUBSTANCE and EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS.

Think LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR.

it's not even that really. the author is applying a written word evaluator to a *you have 90 seconds to speak your answer to unknown questions during a live debate* venue, it's not even what the evaluator algo was written for.

the entire exercise is silly.

Biggest decrease of 15 points is for 19-29K and 47-54K income bracket. This is going by points. Going by percentages - the decrease is even bigger for lower income people.

Yeah -- READ it!

Quote:

As the world’s most important economy and consumer of goods, America must always negotiate trade agreements from strength. Branding China as a currency manipulator and exposing their unfair trade practices is not enough. In order to further strengthen our negotiating leverage, the Trump plan will:

Lower the corporate tax rate to 15% to unleash American ingenuity here at home and make us more globally competitive. This tax cut puts our rate 10 percentage points below China and 20 points below our current burdensome rate that pushes companies and jobs offshore.
Attack our debt and deficit by vigorously eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in the Federal government, ending redundant government programs, and growing the economy to increase tax revenues. Closing the deficit and reducing our debt will mean China cannot blackmail us with our own Treasury bonds.
Strengthen the U.S. military and deploying it appropriately in the East and South China Seas. These actions will discourage
  1. I can filter my income and maximize my corporate officer tax-exempt and deferred benefits -- can you?
  2. Who or what is the target of " [w]aste, fraud and abuse in the Federal government ..." ?
  3. "[S]trengthen the U.S. military..." -- Who is the main beneficiary of increased military spending and why is it not [w]aste, fraud and abuse in the Federal government ..." ?

Typical election year rhetoric. Hillary is no better however IMHO.

Funny though, Richard Nixon and Henry Kissenger, Kissinger and Hillary's relationship , opened the Chinese dialogue and trade relations years ago. So you want to pay $1,000 for a USA made iPhone and $1,800 for a mid range PC? How could this be inflationary? LMAO.

Maybe, these ideas will actually be deflationary -- consumer goods made in the USA with USA wages will be hard to afford -- I smell another recession/even depression coming.

Quote:

[M]r. Trump rants that as president he would punish Ford Motor Co. F 1.12 % for building a plant in Mexico by slapping a 35% tariff on Ford cars and parts imported from that plant. China and Japan are trade enemies and he would fix their wagons, too, by putting trade negotiations with them in the hands of wheeler-dealer Carl Icahn. His pugnacious hostility toward trading partners could be brushed off, but opinion polls suggest that what he says has a lot of resonance with the electorate.

Mr. Trump has been called the most protectionist candidate since Herbert Hoover, and there are certain resemblances. Hoover, like Trump, came late to politics. He had never held elected office before winning the presidency in 1928. Hoover, like Trump, amassed a fortune, but without the benefit of inheritance. A mining engineer, Hoover scouted the world for promising mineral deposits and opened mines to exploit them.

But Hoover’s trade policy caused him and the U.S. a lot of grief, and should serve as a warning to voters inclined to take Mr. Trump seriously. ...

Donald Trump, Meet Herbert Hoover - WSJ
Time waits for no man and history will always repeat itself.

Good fuckin' luck ...
