It says "some schools" are removing it from the menu (their own decision).

The government is trying to do the opposite of ban pork:

I had to eat fish on Fridays in US schools and there was not this outrage. I am not sure of the whys of this move but if the school or day care had a large Muslim population in it, what is the big deal? School lunch is to be eaten so if you feed them something they won't eat. So a decent principal might notice this and make a change and then gasp share the idea with others. Then this article uses the word "ban" so that Americans get all excited. Win/win.

Strange, Brits travel, as do Americans & Germans, expecting to live by that countries rules. I can't believe a couple cannot kiss in some countries & yet, Britain builds mosques & Germany's on plan to ban pork from these places, considering the Islams that want to live in these countries :disgust

Of the bat I must disclose that I am the son of a German Jew mother and I spent at a total of 4 years living in Munich Germany. My mother lovingly cooked and ate all sorts of pork and non kosher meats though ate mostly Pareve foods.

1) The headline is insanely misleading.

2) I personally would never cook and serve pork to any group of people I know may be fed to Jews and now Muslims out of respect. Growing up in NY with a high concentration of Jews this was always understood. It could be one of the choices as long as the cooking and serving materials are segregated (cradle to grave).

3) I normally don't eat bacon at home for health reasons but I was cooking some last week and I had a flash back to working in a Marriott kitchen and cooking bacon in the french fryer as a teenager. This was not the first restaurant where I had seen it done or done it myself. It never occurred to me how this would have been looked at by most observant Jews or Muslims.

4) I think all organized religion is bullshit, however I do feel as though when at all possible to respect others.
