CPU Benchmarks aren't always right about real world situations
I was going to sell off my T7400 and T5400 machines because benchmarks said that the i7-640M and i7-720QM in the laptops would perform sililarly to the E5450 and X5450 in the desktops
Then I used one of the laptops for a few hours and they were completely wrong Even when I run one of these desktops with less ram they're still extremely faster |
There are lots of possible reasons why.

Mostly because benchmarks suck, I think
I also think machines without QPI seem faster . . these are faster than the T5500 and T7500 machines I had, if you ask me, even though everyone says that buffered ram is slow . . I don't agree and it seems solid and stable Meanwhile these do use a lot of electricity and make a lot of heat But fuck it they do the job and you can have 9999 days of uptime |
Welcome to computers. They also seem to need a restart at the worst possible time.
