should everyone switch from icq to skype?

can everyone here just collectively decide to join the rest of the world in the 21st century?

evidently icq's new update is pissing everyone off e.g. https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-pr...01745-icq.html

i propose that everyone migrates to skype and updates their sigs :helpme

if you're being held back by wanting to separate your friends and family skype with the adult industry then you have 2 options to rock a new business-only skype simultaneously via

1. windows users can set a shortcut in their taskbar to
Code:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /secondary
which launches a secondary instance of skype.exe

2. use the new(ish) skype web client at https://web.skype.com

Pad 06-11-2016 04:28 PM

imagine a parallel universe in which the adult industry stopped using icq in the year 2000 and then fast forward to today

if we found out everyone in the real estate business was still using aol instant messenger we'd think they were retarded

Bladewire 06-11-2016 04:34 PM

I thought people pretty much stopped using ICQ around 2009

there have been a handful of instances recently where i didn't reach out to someone on this board because their only contact was an icq uin in their sig

i haven't used icq in 10 years and i'm sure as shit never going to use it again

This is true except for virtually everyone in the adult industry.
For some reason they shy away from change.

Coup 06-11-2016 07:32 PM

People still use chat programs and have friends to talk to?

Spunky 06-11-2016 07:55 PM

Most of my contacts still use ICQ.personally I prefer it to skype

Hannes 06-11-2016 08:02 PM

Not many people i know use ICQ to be honest here.

Rochard 06-11-2016 09:38 PM

I have a six digit ICQ number. Haven't used it in years.

brassmonkey 06-11-2016 11:00 PM

google voice is better :2 cents::2 cents: plus they give you a free local number

Now your stalking, child torture, rape & murder threads are making more sense

Both ICQ and Skype are poorly-designed UIs that have many bugs and issues. They went for the whole 'minimal' road and both failed to provide a clean, simple interface that does the job.

I only use both because clients do. Personally? I'd pick Telegram as the method of choice. Encrypted, easy to use, clean interface, etc. etc.

scarlettcontent 06-12-2016 12:50 AM

I switched 5 years ago

Chosen 06-12-2016 12:05 PM

I prefer ICQ over Skype :pimp

And my reply:

People saying that you do not need ICQ are out of touch with the reality. Especially those saying that you did not need it even years ago...

What is a good multi-protocol client that supports skype? (without having to jump through hoops)

miranda im?

Colmike9 06-12-2016 12:48 PM

I used to talk with hundreds of people on ICQ, now it's just a handful..
Skype is much better, too. Messages don't just magically disappear and if you need to show someone how to do something, share your screen on Skype. Plus a bunch of other things. :upsidedow

fitzmulti 06-12-2016 12:51 PM

I've kept both. It's not really that big of a deal.

DraX 06-12-2016 01:02 PM

Using both as well, certain parts of skype are superior though but I still don't feel it's the perfect solution.

ICQ is still in use at my place to keep in contact with certain clients and partners.

adultchatpay 06-12-2016 10:55 PM

I prefer skype, but i have tons of contacts still using ICQ so i can't just leave away.

This... :2 cents:

Paul Markham 06-13-2016 12:11 AM

I rarely turn ICQ on. If people want me, I will get back to them.

Kernel Team 06-13-2016 02:11 AM

Skype is much beter, but hundreds of old clients still used icq, but year after year they become less...

_Richard_ 06-13-2016 03:07 AM

few still use it

XMaster 06-13-2016 03:12 AM

I'll keep both

j3rkules 06-13-2016 03:55 AM

I prefer skype.

Klen 06-13-2016 04:41 AM

I preffer skype mainly as that is now communication standard, not just in adult but in mainstream industry as well. ICQ latest client for linux is pretty nice and i love it how you can login to it just by typing your phone number and sent sms code.
But as most of people using skype, i am keeping skype open while icq only when i need to contact someone. And telegram is probably better client then these two, but i dont know anyone who using it so no point to run it at all.

teg0 06-13-2016 05:14 AM

Last year I specifically didn't reach out to a client because he was like "hit me up on icq." I thought to myself "I'm not installing that shit"

beavr 06-14-2016 08:01 AM

romeo22 06-14-2016 09:33 AM

Skype is my first choice but i use icq if i have to contact someone.

Skype all the way

sandman! 06-14-2016 09:39 AM

good luck getting people to switch :2 cents::2 cents:

Nothing. People are lazy and would rather spend the time typing 30 words on an internet forum complaining about it then taking the 15 seconds to install pidgin which runs icq super easy. Oh wait, people don't want to research that shit either. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

OY 06-14-2016 10:43 AM

Cannot recall last time I turned on ICQ - but this made me curious about how many missed messages I may have gotten since like 2007.... Better find my ICQ number, and hope the email attached to account is one I still use!

2MuchMark 06-14-2016 12:33 PM

IRC anyone?
