No New Gun Controls -- US Senate

Senate rejects series of gun measures - CNNPolitics.com

Thank you NRA and Republican Senators :upsidedow The Republicans are even voting down their own party's Senators bills -- YEA!

Saving the commercial interests at gun shows and preserving the Second Amendment is the ''voice of the people.'' So, if you are a nut-job or under suspicion of terrorist involvement you can still buy your assault weapons and your ammo -- nice job!

This is not a weapons sales ban -- these were proposals of new laws to possibly prevent the purchase of weapons by dangerous persons by BOTH parties in the US Senate. Conserving your rights to? -- get mowed down in a public place by a terrorist or nut-case with a weapon designed for killing people -- this is conservatism in its finest hour (of stupidity).

Quote:

The Senate rejected first a Republican proposal to update the background check system for gun purchases, which would have required states to add more information on mental health records to a national database. It also included a provision to alert law enforcement agencies when an individual who was on a government terror watch list in the last five years buys a gun.
The proposal, sponsored by Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, failed to get the 60 votes for passage. The vote was 53-47, largely along party lines. Some Senate Democrats warned that the legislation's revised definition of who would be considered mentally ill could potentially still allow those with significant psychological issues to legally purchase guns.
A second proposal to expand the background check system for those buying guns to require checks at gun shows and for online purchases went down 44-56. Murphy, the Democrat who launched a nearly 15-hour filibuster last week to press for new gun restrictions after the Orlando massacre where 49 people were killed, sponsored the proposal.
A Republican proposal to delay gun sales to individuals included on a government terror watch list failed in a mostly party-line vote of 53-47. The measure was sponsored by Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn. The bill would allow a judge to permanently block a purchase if the court determined probable cause that the individual is involved in terrorist activity.
And a Democratic option that sought to bar all gun sales to those individuals on the terror watch list failed 47-53, the second time the proposal went down to defeat after a mass shooting. California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein originally pushed the proposal in December after a shooting in San Bernardino, and revived it after the horrific Orlando nightclub shooting by a gunman who pledged allegiance to the terror group ISIS.

It seems like the measures introduced would be a no-brainer...but they have no brains. Or they're in the pocket of the NRA. One or the other is true.

slapass 06-21-2016 05:17 AM

How does Fox news even spin this to make it look like it was a good vote? The crazy part is conservatives are all over fucking with terrorists except on how they get guns.... ??? Crazy shit in this country.

There is no limit to the stupidity of the US Congress.
There is no limit to the stupidity of the people that have elected the current Congress.
They are your representatives.

This is like the Brady Bill. But this is a real crisis for average Americans -- not being safe in public assembly places. Also, this is an Islamic Terrorists State's wet dream -- stupid infidels making themselves a fat and easy target -- we deserve what we get.

Das some real money in privatized prisons and pharma.Neither industry wants to see gun laws in place. Shares might drop a tick. Satan forbids it.

US politicians are installed not voted in.

Barry-xlovecam 06-21-2016 06:29 AM

Maybe, everyone attending the RNC convention in Cleveland should be allowed to carry arms -- practice what you preach I guess. Better yet; no police or US Secret Service -- bring your own guns -- you are on your own.

Nothing will ever change with these waste of time votes, until, a couple Senator's kids get murdered in a mass shooting. Then you'll see them change their tune. Otherwise, they don't give a rat's ass about anybody else.

See, we are not human beings, we are just voters. And there are plenty more voters where we came from. We are expendable. Guns make money for lobbyists, not voters.

Find out who voted this out and if he's in your State, next time he comes up for re-election. Make sure everyone knows a vote for him is a vote for the NRA.

LovinNothin 06-23-2016 02:02 AM

The NRA and those fucking mid western gun loving hicks will never loosen their grip on their machine guns or their sister's tits.

These assholes don't know what it's like to live in a city, or a place with indoor plumbing and sidewalks, and they think "it's darn o-kay do-kay to ownz me a gun that shoots 600 rounds per minute. Caz me gonna kill 600 deer for dinner."

If these monkeys can own auto weapons, why can't I buy a bazooka? I'm just gonna use it to hunt deer and for target practice?

I hate living in this country because we allow these shit kicking morons to dictate to real people that it's OK to own a military weapons.

pimpmaster9000 06-23-2016 04:03 AM

it took the USA 50 years just to get the tobacco lobby to put warnings on cigarrete packs...

cancerous fire retardants in furniture was a 30-40 year fight...

"clean coal" is still a thing :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

then theres the """""""""""""Defense""""""""""" lobby (notice how I put the word defense under lots of quotes LOL)

the big oil lobby...

the financial lobby (thanks you for the bail out, the new yachts they got with it work just great :thumbsup)

the pharma lobby...US healthcare :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh need I say more? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

the israel lobby...israel is kinda like the mini USA, stolen land is fine and apartheid is fine as long as the people doing it are white :thumbsup

and finally the NRA...only in the USA is more guns=more peace...you have to be an american to be able to do the mental gymnastics on this :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

the USA should have a foreign policy and tell others how to live :thumbsup:1orglaugh

If the balance of power and influence was flipped -- meaning the anti gun people were the ones controlling legislation and the NRA was on the sidelines watching helplessly -- the NRA would have probably shot the anti-gun people by now. Because they have guns, and they're assholes.

Barry-xlovecam 06-23-2016 07:44 AM

@baddog
Ever hear of the legal precedent of Reasonable Suspicion
In case you haven't read all about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reasonable_suspicion

Firearms purchases deferred or refused sales would most likely be upheld as constitutional if a facial constitutional challenge was made in the US Federal Courts; That is why the NRA and their political allies are so obstinate in opposition and their supporters are getting their panties in a bunch -- they know they would lose in the courts so they scream foul in the court of public opinion.

The ACLU has chosen to oppose the proposed new gun laws for reason that the no fly lists are not 100% true and correct. The ACLU are not really supporting the right to bear assault rifles https://www.aclu.org/second-amendment the ACLU is in opposition to these 'hazardous' persons' lists -- what alternative do they offer?

Bottom line is: no one really needs to buy firearms made for killing people NOW, on the spot, for cold cash.

I would like to see a waiting period of 10 days on high capacity and fast discharge rifles and handguns. People on the no-fly and other law enforcement list for the duration of a terrorism crisis that we know have should be refused sales of firearms. Any new law requiring these steps should sunset and need to be re-enacted by the legislature -- all laws are subject to judicial review in this country that is DUE PROCESS.

I own firearms legally and I do not want a draconian absolute ban on firearms ownership by citizens. However, I have no interest in arming terrorists or hot heads looking for revenge.

That said; I was looking at buying a new 7.62mm NATO bolt action with a scope. I don't need to buy an assault rifle. Need be I'll get a few of those for free :Oh crap

that is a flat out lie.. they didn't even deem them dangerous until the late 50's then added warnings soon after...

my god, your hatred runs so thick you have to completely make shit up to validate it. You are sick..

Whether he has the date wrong, doesn't change his message. 7 Dwarfs mean anything? Not the fairy story. The one when 7 leading CEOs got in front of a Congressional hearing and lied, so they could carry on profiting from killing people. Whatever way you spin it that's what they were doing and passing the costs onto you for the damage they did.

Your insurance policies and taxes are higher because of tobacco-related cancer treatments. Soon the food lobby will be handing you another bill for their policy of making people obese, that one will be bigger.

Quote:

The estimated annual health care costs of obesity-related illness are a staggering $190.2 billion or nearly 21% of annual medical spending in the United States. Childhood obesity alone is responsible for $14 billion in direct medical costs.
The figure may be wrong, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Or that you won't end up paying for it.

You already know you're ass fucked by the health lobby, so no need to discuss that. Defence is another thing you have to pay over the odds for, protecting Israel cost you more, financial lobby well they're supreme and on their way to over selling bits of paper and making money whether you win or lose. The NRA don't give a flying fuck about your freedom they make more from your fear than your freedom.

Or do you think those guys spend $billions to get the politicians and results you want?

actually I was watching a documentary on the sugar lobby in the USA they made comparisons with the tobacco lobby and how they fought the 1966 law on "warnings" that were merely: "smoking is addictive" and it did not stand out at all but was small type and actually made people think it had a "cool factor" according to Assistant Director of Research at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company:

"psychologically, at eighteen, one is immortal" and theorized that "the desire to be daring is part of the motivation to start smoking." He stated, "in this sense the label on the package is a plus."

what I was referring to was:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Smoking_Prevention_and_Tobacco_Control_Act of 2009

where they were required to put up the actual surgeons general warning...

2009-1950(when they found out tobacco is bad)=59 years...

sorry I was wrong it was not 50 years its 59 years you were right and I was not...my hatred for the USA ran so thick I had to make shit up to validate it...I am sick

recent news from serbia:

BELGRADE – According to the data published in “World Tobacco Atlas”, Serbia is leading convincingly in the number of cigarettes smoked during the year. A smoker from Serbia consumes 2861 cigarettes per year. We can abandon the comparison that we are smoking like Turks, because smokers in Turkey smoke two times less, or 1399 cigarettes per year.

Corruption in Serbia

Corruption levels are perceived to be high by surveyed residents of Serbia, and public trust in key institutions remains low.

Corruption is considered the most problematic factor for doing business in Serbia, followed by inefficient government bureaucracy.

Even though Serbia has made progress in the investigation of high-level corruption cases, the implementation of anti-corruption laws is weak.
