Has anyone successfully been able to import the awempire feed and filter the results against banned countries at display time?

Your question depends on the platform you are using, yes I've done this with wordpress. Just read the documentation they provide:

Yes, I have read the documentation. Considering though that there is a one to many relationship between model and banned countries, I don't see how the code provided is helpful in that regard.
