Bulk video editing software

What do you use for batch video conversion? I'm looking to bulk convert 4K .mov files to .mp4 (H.264 or H.265)

fris 09-17-2016 06:12 PM

what os?

Sly 09-17-2016 07:33 PM

Have you tried doing it in Compressor?

myleene 09-17-2016 08:18 PM

FFmpeg
Handbrake
Adobe Media Encoder

marlboroack 09-17-2016 09:31 PM

Acrok Video Converter and handbreak are the best out of 20 I've used

Sorry, I forgot to mention..

Windows or Linux

j3rkules 09-18-2016 05:10 AM

I use FFmpeg.

Paul&John 09-18-2016 06:35 AM

FFMpeg rocks (command line thingy), but there are GUI's available as well (didn't tried them yet)

Va2k 09-18-2016 08:11 AM

Adobe premier all the way

redwhiteandblue 09-18-2016 08:17 AM

Handbrake, although it's a bit slow.

freecartoonporn 09-18-2016 10:07 AM

dont buy videocharge.
ffmpeg here

california 09-18-2016 01:26 PM

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I've tried Handbrake and FFmpeg so far. None of them can handle 4K .movs better than VLC (which is buggy as fuck, that's why I'm looking for other solutions) unless I'm doing something wrong..

i'm basically looking to compress the huge 4K .mov files without considerable loss of quality.. if that's fucking possible at all

fris 09-18-2016 02:18 PM

dunno about windows, but permute for osx does it good

You're not handling 4K well in FFmpeg. I've done it hundreds of times and never had issues.

VLC is good for playing them or ripping streams but utter shit to convert videos.

I won't give my scripts free though. Contact me.

Same here. It's surprisingly easy to use. Just drag & Drop, then select your output format. At watermarks and other things too. Wondershare Software Official Website - Multimedia, Utility, Mobile

candyflip 09-19-2016 06:21 PM

Adobe Media Encoder

Why not? works great for me, I can watermark and convert at the same time.

Not the most user friendly thing out there but once you get it set up it does the job for sure.

sirkonstantine 09-20-2016 01:34 AM

ffmpeg all the way. You must be typing the command in wrong. It's tricky at first but once you have it down, make a BaSH script and all future videos can be converted in one line.

Handbrake.

Its basically a GUI to FFMpeg, it can batch, you have all sorts of options as for quality settings, and you can save multiple profiles.

Create one profile with certain settings, then a second profile with other settings, run the same original with each profile, then view to decide which you like.

Can also create multiple sizes of same original in the same batch. Take one original and output to 1080p and 720p if thats what you offer members.

Another advantage is that many others use it - GFY guys and mainstream - so there are plenty of people and forums to get questions answered if you need.

I've used wonder share a lot but quality really starts to suffer using it so I'm now just doing ffmpeg/handbreak

I did try Handbrake. It was extremely slow and didn't produce good results but I might be doing something wrong..

What settings would you use to convert a 1.5 GB 4K .mov file to .mp4 without considerable loss of quality?

pinkmasterx 09-22-2016 10:16 AM

I can do it with my online platforme : PinkEncode - Plateforme automatisée d'encodage vidéos - mp4, flv, avi, watermark
You send xml list with encoding param you want, videos are encoded, thumb a generate, water mark is added if you want, and i put it on your ftp.

Contact me webmaster [at] pinkmaster [dot] com for more infos

Handbrake. Not sure it's going to work for converting my million flash banners though.

h264 codec, either 20 constant quality or 3000-5000 variable bitrate depending on results and your needs for quality v. filesize.
