Good movie to watch on 4K?
When I was younger and DVD was "the big thing," The Matrix was recommended as a first watch.
When I bought my Blu-ray player, Planet Earth was "the" series to watch. Now that I have a 4K capable laptop, what should I check out first? |
Interstellar, Deadpool, Star Trek movies?
I like sci fi |
Ah I have not seen the latest Star Trek, good suggestion.

I remember the first time I saw a Plasma tv. The original Charlie and The Chocolate Factory looked really cool with all the colors.

Older movies are not 4k, and have to be remastered to take advantage of it. Even then, its fake 4k. Some other movies are shot on modern digital camers in 2.8k, then re-mastered / converted. It looks better, but still.
What you want are movies shot in 4k, edited and mastered and output to 4k. Since the technology is still fairly new, require sick computers and other resources to work with, they are a little hard to find. The best classic movies remastered for 4k are movies that were shot 35/70mm film, and then only if they were remastered from pristine prints or prints that have been digitally restored first or during the 4k remastering process. Rogue One, Hunger Games Catching Fire, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, Independence Day are all shot in true 4k or 35/70mm and mastered in 4k. This should look perfect. Deadpool, Hungergames Mockingjay part 1&2, Elysium, The Revenant are all shot in 2.8k or 3.4k, but mastered in 4k. It might not be as good as true 4k but it should still look amazing and no one would probably notice the difference anyway. (BTW, The Revenant: Wow - what a beautifully, perfectly shot film. You'll love it) The Legend of Tarzan, Battleship, The Girl on the Train, Ghostbusters 2016, Mad Max Fury Road, were all shot in 2k and then up-converted to 4k. Then again, you probably won't notice the difference. Fury Road looks freakin gorgeous no matter what. |
