I didn't think of that. Would a move to chip and pin completely stop that?

The cameras won't stop the getting robbed in the parking lot trick. But that can happen anywhere.

Bladewire 11-27-2016 10:47 PM

That's so cool! And it's only $70,000 to buy the store! I'd say this could be a great franchise to buy into now :thumbsup

I just read an article earlier today that talked about how McDonald's has decided not to fight legislation that might raise the minimum wage to $15/hr, but instead they are focusing on rolling out automation companywide.

I imagine seeing stores like this in a lot of places in the very near future.

The future. Corporations making more money putting more people on taxpayer funded benefits. And some of you still wonder why Trump won.

ContentPimp 11-28-2016 01:20 AM

I see in the near future that these Automated Shops will be in each and every corner. :2 cents:

EddyTheDog 11-28-2016 01:24 AM

They have them all over the place in Japan I remember seeing them on some TV Prog - London has similar setups - Not sure they are as sophisticated as that though...

And how, exactly, is Trump going to stop this from happening?

As Sly recently talked about framing, you can call it:
a) automated grocery store
b) big vending machine

I would not like it for one reason - automation takes out jobs.
I do not use automatic cashiers in grocery stores for that reason (and also because they do not pay me for doing cashier's job)

Barry-xlovecam 11-28-2016 06:51 AM

If the full service line at the grocery store cost 5% more would you pay it?

Conversely, if the self-checkout line deducted 5% from your bill as compensation for your labor would you prefer that self-checkout line?

That's where we are headed in the next few years.

i read in sweden they have these and you pay with an app. No more roberies/ skimming or somebody must be hungry and want food.

If Amazon has their way there will be no shops at all, everything will be ordered via the interwebs. Most of their warehouses are at least partly automated and with drone deliveries and refrigerators that sence when food is running low and can automatically order via the web. We soon won't have to even get out of bed ? :2 cents:

bronco67 11-28-2016 12:20 PM

That's good. Test it out on the Iowa hicks first.

Rochard 11-28-2016 12:21 PM

Interesting.

Eventually we will not need this. Eventually we will order everything on line, and it will be delivered directly to our house. LOL - Some day stuff will automatically end up in our pantry, fridge, and freezer.

We will become lazy fucks.
