North Carolina just held its gubernatorial election and the Democrat ended up winning. How did the Republican-controlled legislature deal with the loss? By quickly calling a special session and passing several laws that greatly reduce the powers of the Governor. The outgoing Republican Governor has signed them.

How can the Governor-elect fight this? He has no power. The Republicans control the state legislature and the outgoing Governor is a Republican. There might be some things he can do to reverse a few of these things once he gets into office, but he still has to deal with the Republicans who clearly have no interest in working with him.

He may have no power to fight it, but he can take to the airwaves, social media and remind the voters of NC how the republicans are fucking with the will of the people. Keep up a verbal onslaught and try to get the people to vote out some of the republicans who stand in the way come next state election

He is doing that. There are people picketing the capital building tonight in NC. Based on what I just saw on the news, it sounds line he will likely have to deal with some of these things in court.

I hope, like you say, he continues to remind people what they did so when the next election comes around those who disapprove can show that anger with their vote.

If they really were just trying to limit powers and shrink the government then why didn't they do it years ago when the Republican Governor was in office? Why was there no mention of this during the election? Why did they wait until the Democrat won THEN called a special session to pass these laws?
