Well if you had been buying $10 a week since Franck told you in 2013 you could have made some good money by now.

As usual I sold when I thought it had peaked and was trending downwards again.

It has grown by about 20% since then

Bought upward of 10k$ of it when it was between 40-80$ in CAD when the USD:CAD was almost 1:1, add 33%. Do the math.

Paper, still have them in my BitStamp wallet.

Realized over 15k gain in a few weeks, in the early exchanges days when you could swap in seconds bitcoin from exchanges (btc-e, bitstamp), making money using the exchanges' prices gap (about 3-5% then).

Bought over 100k$ with real cash on localbitcoin and exchanged it for a profit within the hour, the average transaction was for 15-20k$ at a time with a net profit of 10%.

Lovely days...

Mined them with a big rig in my garage for months as a side project, but the hashing difficulty went up (of course) and I didn't make a dime this way.

Fun though.

I made fun of Franck because he was not buying them and just talking like he knew everything back then.
He did say he owned 1 so I hope he still has it LOL.

Is that a web wallet? If so, given all of the hacks of exchanges, why are you entrusting your Bitcoins to a third party?

It is indeed. Because I trust them more than I trust myself with cold storage.

Ive followed(and held some) bitcoin for a good few years now and ive learnt one thing nearly everything related to bitcoin is a scam or misleading to manipulate the market.

Did you know China just sold off their debt so they can raise the value of their own? Every country has these same issues.

As for bitcoin related is scams....

1. i buy my weekly paleo food delivery in bitcoin. I order from their site, they delivery it, I pay the invoices in bitcoin.

2. i bought a TGP network last year in bitcoin, he got bitcoin, i got his sites, $6000 payment instantly, no fees ;)

3. anyone buying advert/links from me, or any sponsor paying me, i prefer bitcoin any and all the time :) always.

Don't hold too much of it after $1200.

Quick follow up, as of 3 hours ago I am all out of the bitcoin game @ 999.98$ / BTC.

Hopefully the bubble will burst and I'll get back in, otherwise, it was a hell of a ride ;)

fees in exchange fee and/or in value change (lets say it drops in an hour or day etc, buyer got less than would have gotten with non instant dollar payment. If it rises - seller paid more than would have using non instant dollar payment etc).

dont tell that to ruff. he bought in from 600 to 900 3 years ago, & is back to breaking even. but according to him, it will go to infinity because it is limited supply.

regardless of the wallet thefts & collapse of exchanges, like MT GOX. no big deal to ruff!

No 3rd party taking $ from the seller, or from me the buyer for that transaction. If Paypal, or wire transfer or any other form of transaction it would have 3rd party taking a cut, and would have to wait days to complete. This was no 3rd party benefit, and nearly instant :thumbsup

Joshua you must have no experience. I personally had 3 digits worth of bitcoins stored at MtGox,, and i transferred them away because there were 100 hints beforehand, it was obvious they were going to collapse. The people that stayed there were either 1. lazy, or 2. greedy because Mtgox always had a higher listed value price.

That's one thing, another thing is, why keep bitcoins in an exchange at all? Every person that owns bitcoin has the option of cold storage, so to blame any exchange or collapse of any exchange is ridiculous on your part.

Hint: read up, experience it for yourself, you are obviously reading others experiences and acting as if you know what you're talking about with bitcoin. Knowledge is power :thumbsup

I generally only sell BTC - mining obscure altcoins and cashing out when some of them take off - so I tend to hold a growing balance, and sell when the BTC value is sufficiently high.

I sold too soon, so right now I have something like 0.05 BTC to my name. :1orglaugh

Used to be a few years ago that porn webmasters were a bit of the cutting edge. Bitcoin would have been a perfect fit. Now it seems that porn is dominated by neocons and people scared of their own shadow. There has been an opportunity to make a lot, and I mean, a lot of money with digital coins and smart people have done just that. Just the past few days you could have bought one BTC and turned a serious profit of at least $200. There is no other investment out there right now with that kind of return. Standing on the sidelines and watching the world go by is no way to live.

Electricity is still expensive, bitcoins not worth.
