If you are looking for a party then head for Playa De Las Americas - If you like it a bit quieter then Puerto De La Cruz - Still fun but you might actually see some Spanish people here...

A trip up Mt Teide is good at this time of year - You might even get some skiing in if you are very lucky - La Gomera is worth an overnight trip as well.....

Tell me what you are looking for and I will help you out - I used to live in Puerto...

Americas is a party town - You can find anything - Try to get near the sea - There are hundreds of hotels - Los Cristianos is the town next down the road - These days they are basically the same place - It's fine if you end up there...

Expect fish and chips - No descent tapas here!....

If you are flying from Barcelona then make sure you come into the south airport for Americas - Don't end up in the north airport, it's a long expensive taxi ride to get down to Americas...

Have a good time:):pimp.....

Just go to the place that looks fun - You will be hit by a hundred flyers offering this and that - Follow the cool looking people - Don't pay for your first 5 drinks - Seriously...

Book before you go for accommodation - A 5 min search will find you something OK but good value, especially this time of year.....

Adje is OK - It's about 25 mins from Americas - It has it's own scene - I doubt it's what you are looking for you though...

For a few days days - Maybe.....

Tapas. that made me laugh.

Last time we were in Barcelona my son was 7. We went to a tapas place and he wanted Mac and cheese. They brought it. like 7 pieces and he freaked.

Who servers seven pieces of mac and cheese and calls it mack and cheese. He was very upset.

70 euros taxi? I do not believe there are no buses between 2 major towns on the island. Or are you that much of a spoiled brat that the only transportation you take is taxi?

buses are always a lot cheaper, or hire a car :2 cents:

& as EddyTheDog said, i've been to "Playas da las Americas" many years ago, was good fun!

Other options are head down the coast of mainland Spain to Malaga :thumbsup

They call it "Tapas", because it means "toppers". Many years back, in Madrid, the bars would put a piece of bread on top of your glass to stop the flies going in your drink. Then they followed to put a piece of salami or Iberico ham on the bread, then onwards, small dishes were created, albondigas (meat balls), tortilla (Spanish omelette), Chicken liver & onion, beef & peas, many others, fish dishes & octopus. They're just small dishes for 1 or 2 euro each, you have 5 or 6 to share between a few people, a bit of each.

I've never seen Mac & cheese on the order, but sounds funny to have seen his face when they served up such a small portion for him, the poor bugger :Oh crap :thumbsup
